I frequently notice that I always have to be the one calculate on spliting the bill when I go out with friends since I am the “accountant.” Does anyone have the similar experience?

I get that all the time, and what I hate sometimes, after few drinks my adding skills are not best and if I have a mistake they give me a look sort of what kind of accountant are you? I am like if you think you are smarter go ahead do it yourself and I excuse myself to bathroom lol..

ugh… very annoying! The worst are weekend trips with a large group (10+). Not only do you have to keep track of the receipts and remember who paid for what, but not everyone stays the entire 3 nights so you have to pro-rate the costs. And they all look to you because you're the accountant. So now, I always reply back with a quote from Harold and Kumar (I apologize if it offends anyone). “Just cause you're hung like a moose doesn't mean you gotta do porn.” And that's the exact response I give to people when they throw receipts at my face and tell me “heeeey, you're the math guy… calculate!”

Funny. I always say I don't know how to split it because I don't have my ten-key in front of me, then I take another sip of my adult beverage. 😉

Here's a thought. We're all friends, out to dinner enjoying the company of one another. Get over it if your bill is a couple bucks more or less than the person next to you, split the thing 5 ways, and be done with it! So annoying….

@Veronica, that's how I do it most of the time, what annoys me are the people who mind that they have to pay extra because someone had more drinks than they did, it is only few bucks difference. Annoying big time..Another lesson, I learned long time ago, if there are lots of people at the dinner, I ask for separate check and hint it to everyone to do the same.
