    How many hours on average did you sleep per night while studying for the exams? I work full time about 55 hours per week and have two children under 6yrs. I normally sleep 8 hours per night because I need to maintain my health but I can’t see any other way to get 20+ hours per week of studying unless I start sacrificing sleep. Any ideas?

    I agree with Lilla, sacraficing sleep is a terrible idea. Effective studying is not just about number of hours, but rather the quality of studying. If you are trying to study when you are running on fumes, you wont absorb it as well and will ultimately need more total hours in order to pass.

    I had a similar issue. I was stressed, and it took me a while to even get to sleep, which of course wasted time. My solution was simple: Ambien

    I would agree that your productivity declines if you get less than your typical amount of sleep. For me, that's about 8 hours of solid sleep to operate at my best. I can get by on 6-7, but will have to increase my caffeine intake and also catch up at least one night a week.

    I can easily get by with a little less sleep temporarily, but if I have to do it for weeks/months straight it doesn't really work out so well.

    Well op, you have a lot on your plate, but just remember that more sleep = the better you are able to retain information

    Some people do well on 4-5 hours of sleep. Some just cannot function this way. Listen to your body.

    I did my MACC with 2 jobs and a kid. 4 hours of sleep was my standard. I had a major breakdown after the graduation. In the retrospect, I was an idiot and should have taken better care of my health.

    Do not feel pressured to run on 5 hours because “everybody does it”. You have only one life, and it's your health. Sleep deprivation can lead to quite unpleasant consequences. As my Dr puts it “Do you want to be a CPA, or do you want to have a CPA license on your gravestone?”

    4-6 hours here, and that's interrupted because I have a nine month old who's up to nurse once or twice a night.

    My typical week, if you care:

    Monday:

    Up at 4, to work by 5, work until 4:30, kids from daycare at 5, they go to bed around 8, I study until 10 or 11. I also do flashcards on my phone while I pump during the workday.

    Tuesday:

    Up at 4, to work by 5, work until 4, kids from daycare at 4:30, eldest son has ballet 5-6, so I play with the 9 month old, or if he sleeps during class, I study. Repeat Monday evening's schedule with regards to kids' bedtime and studying.

    Wednesday:

    Up at 4, to work by 5, work until 5, gym 5:30-6:30, tutor 7-8. I usually don't study Wednesday evenings – I veg out in front of the TV with my husband. WORTH IT.

    Thursday:

    Up at 4, to work by 5, work until my eyes won't focus anymore, usually around 6 or 7 (pm). Home by 7:30ish, if my mind cleared on the drive home, I'll study. Oftentimes I end up showering and collapsing in to bed.

    Friday:

    Up at 4, to work by 5, work until 4:30, kids from daycare at 5, and then we do a family evening at the YMCA. Pick up my husband from work at 8:30, home by 9, kids to bed, I'll either study or watch a movie with my husband.

    Saturday:

    Husband works, so I do what I can to study while the kids nap. I make housework a game, and I put the 9 month old in a carrier while the four year old and I sweep/mop/vacuum/do dishes/play outside/whatever.

    Sunday:

    Up at 4, work by 5, work until about 3, study for a couple hours at work, home for dinner and family time, study after the kids are in bed, go to bed around 11.

    I haven't even been on this “fun” CPA journey for long and I'm ready for it to be over. I'm going to sleep for a week straight, I swear to god.
