GottaGetThruThisMemberI like that idea @nolifecpa. But should make sure she isn't competitive because if she's not passing and you are that could cause some problems.
B- Passed (2nd Try)
A- Passed (2nd Try)
R- Passed (2nd Try)
F- Passed (3rd Try)Never give up!

nolifecpaParticipanthaha…i guess you can still get rid of her by saying you only date chicks that pass the exam, problem would be if she actually passes after that

AnonymousInactiveJust tell her that if she passes all 4 parts of the exam, you'll give her something shiny, followed by a big wink. Naturally, she'll pass all 4 parts in the same window and then expect her “shiny present”. So give her some aluminum foil and say, “good job!”

AnonymousInactiveWhen you say, “we”, are you referring to your gender as a whole? I was just kidding with you, T-Rex, but you can't tell me that there aren't a lot of women who are “ring hungry” as you so aptly put it.
September 7, 2011 at 12:31 pm #435558
T-rexParticipantI was just joking around, Baseball. 🙂 Admittedly, there are quite a few women who meet the stereotype. I know a few women who are so eager to jump into marriage that they seem to put little thought into the type of guy they want to marry; i.e., no standards, anyone will do. To me, that is sad and dangerous. Ah well.

Happen4reasonMemberAny tips on how to stay relaxed before your exam? I am finding this has become an issue for me that I get so nervous before my exam I cant sleep (average 2-3hr sleep before my last 2 exams and then I cant focus). I seem to be so anxious and making myself sick with nerves over passing. My family and bf are being very supportive and keep telling me to just relax but that is easier said then done. I just cant seem to calm myself and I recognize this is a problem. I'm taking FAR oct 1 and ever since I scheduled it last week I haven't slept well because all I can think about is how I don't think I will be prepared enough in time. What are some things you all do to remain calm before the storm?

AnonymousInactiveHappen4reason — I'm not knocking you here, but I find it ironic that of all people, you are asking about how to stay calm during the weeks leading up to the exam. Your username implies that you are a believer in fate and everything happening for a reason (which is cool); so I could only assume that you would probably maintain the most calm out of anybody! Well, to stay in the same vein as your username, you've heard of the song/phrase “que sera, sera”, correct? It means, whatever will be, will be; a phrase that I think you should really take to heart. You are talking to the most anxious person on the planet, so I know what it's like to stay up all night worrying about something that has almost no possibility of occurring. If you have recurring anxiety issues, I can tell you from personal experience to find someone to help you get them resolved. However, if it's just an isolated incident brought on only by the exam, then I guess just power through and kick butt!
As for staying calm, you just have to find the thing in life that brings about your inner peace. For me, the gym is my tranquility and my isolation. I don't have to talk to my parents, my girlfriend, my friends; I don't hear the roided out gym-monkey grunting his way through a 300 lb deadlift; I just exist without a veritable traffic jam of thoughts clouding my mind. I go in and resistance train for about an hour; I jam out to my hendrix and my zeppelin and I pretend that the world doesn't exist (like I'm Will Smith from I Am Legend). Then I run for about 45 minutes with Joplin and Seger filling my ears with a lovesplosion of melodic masterpieces. Finally, I sit in the steam room for a good 20 minutes to let my heart chill out before making the trek back home to chaos (Caution: People may try to talk to you here; just start shouting random vegetables. Guaranteed to get you peace and quiet AND your own bench). Anyway, my point is, find the one thing in your life that you love to do and can do without turning your brain on (painting, running, tv, whatever)…this exam will make that bad boy overheat quickly! Good luck on all your future exams!

Thanks, I do believe in fate but I also think things happen because of our own actions. After another restless night I decided I want to take action for myself and take steps to better improve my chances of passing. Which I thinks means more “me time”. It is an isolated incident that has only really been an issue with this exam. I have never had such nerves before. I am a very confident person and I am not used to failure so studying for my cpa exam has been a learning experience for me. I do think you are right I need to take time out of my day for me and do something to take my mind off things. I do go to the gym as much as possible but maybe its just not enough of a break for me. I think studying is a lot about finding the right balance of work, life and studying so I guess I just need to figure out a better balance.

AnonymousInactiveJust so you know, those are conflicting ideologies…they are mutually exclusive. A believer of “fate” would believe that all of his “chosen” actions were really already preordained before he ever did them, while a non-believer would believe that he can choose/change his own destiny at will. So, yes, things happen because of our own actions, but if you believe in fate, then you would be bound to the idea that those very actions were already mapped out on your preconceived path through life.
This exam will certainly do strange things to you…hopefully you have a strong support system there for you through the good times and the bad times. Good luck!

I was afraid that I would lose sleep the night before my Audit exam. As a result, when I scheduled my Audit exam, I scheduled to take it at 5:30 PM. Therefore, I figured if I lost any sleep the day beofore, I could just sleep in the day of my exam.
I also took time off from work- a couple days prior to my exam and the day of my exam.
These steps definitely helped me feel relaxed on my exam day!

letsfixthisMemberI usually take a benzodiazepine the night before the test. Klonopin is my pharmaceutical of choice, it does the trick…..you sleep like a baby and wake up feeling refreshed and relaxed. Try it next time.
