Simulations (REG & AUDIT)

Hi all, I am not really sure where to ask these questions, so I thought this would be the best place. I just took Auditing and Regulation, and I feel like I have been played in both sections.

First of all, in Auditing, I ended up with 74…My break down showed that I did strong in the MC section and weak in the simulations. Now, in the simulations I felt that the question difficulty was really off the wall!

In Regulation, I felt the same thing, I did very well in the MC, and ended up with “gotcha” questions in the simulation section.

I guess I wonder, as the sections go on and get harder, as I know they do if you do well in each section prior, does this effect the simulation questions? I really felt like I ended up with two sections of “gotcha” questions at the end that reached the the farthest part of their particular section in an attempt to be overly difficult. Is this just poor luck? or is this by design?

I would say that they do intentionally make it harder based on your progress on the other testlets.

But what I always tell people about the simulations is they're not as bad as they seem. You have access to the Authoritative Lit during that section, and can usually look up the guidance for most of the problems you're trying to solve. Don't be afraid to use that resource 🙂

I agree. For the sims they want you to apply the knowledge which in some instances means being able to use the research tool to put you on the right path as you would when you are a CPA. I used the research tool for REG.

I agree that the research tool is useful, and I have used it in the past. However some of the topics of discussion in the sim section seam really out there. Trying to understanding a derivative transaction and make a call in terms of auditing seams a bit further from being reasonable. Had it been a topic less complex, I could understand it.
