Hey guys,

So I’ve notice a common theme on here has been people taking the exam this window thinking they’ve nailed the MCQ’s, but bombed the sims. I can speak from my personal experience taking FAR on 7/2, I felt Becker had my prepared beyond belief for the MCQ’s but they weren’t even close to the Sims, or at least the ones I had. With REG, AUD, (and possibly FAR again) left to go, has anyone found a particular course or guide that they felt prepared them well for the simulations for their respective exam?

Yea I understand sims failed me for AUD and REG in 2011 I am hoping Yeager pushes me though, people say do MC but i just think becker doesnt do a good job on the sims because it doesnt tell you why the other choices are wrong or incorporate sims into the lecture as good as Yeager does.

Same, I thought pretty much all but 1-2 questions per testlet were ‘fair' (meaning I knew the answer could be found in my review materials somewhere) considering I used Becker to review with for AUD. As for the sims, sure Becker's material gave me a starting area for most of the sims, but I feel like I was not prepared enough to succeed in many of them.

On the other hand, I feel like I was naturally suited for the research questions, and didn't really need Becker's help to figure out how to do/succeed at those.

I think for the purposes of FAR it's really hard for a review course to prepare you adequately for sims…there's so much material and the exam could just pull out some trifling little area and throw you a sim on it. If you find a way to prepare well for the sims, let me know because I am very worried about them at this point.

Things that are critical for performing well on sims:

Allow yourself sufficient time.

Expect the unexpected and don't let the sims send you into panic mode.

Read the instructions for the sims very carefully.

Know that the sims are often worded very poorly. Don't let that throw you, just do your best to answer them.

On REG, I am certain that I missed the vast majority of the sims, yet I still passed somehow.

@Jimbo,

Truly, I did horribly on them. I hope you do well on yours, but if for some reason you don't, don't assume you failed. I spent weeks being miserable because I was certain that I failed, yet I ended up passing. The scoring model is wacky!
