SIM Strategy…?

Does it make sense during the simulations to pick the easiest ones first and knock those out. For instance, doing the research SIMS first and so on? That way if time becomes an issue you have more completed?

Also, if I come across a SIM that I have no idea how to complete, should I still attempt to fill in numbers or answers for partial credit or just move on?

When I actually passed exams, it was because I took my time with the sims. Yes, I think it's a good idea to get the easier sims and research question out of the way and spend the rest of your time tackling the more difficult sims. I spent every last minute on REG researching a couple sims that had me totally baffled. Use the research tabs like crazy! They are there for a reason. The AICPA expects you to use them.

    BEC: 70, 82
    AUD: 62, 78
    REG: 71, 68, 85

Do you know if it's standard to only have one research SIM or can there be more?

I wasn't aware that they encouraged you to use the research tab. The practice SIMS I've been doing I didn't think to use it. I thought it might take away from my time, but it makes sense since the answers are right there.

@jjm1181, you can have one or two research SIMs. My strategy for REG, this might not work for everyone–but I would look at what the SIM was asking, or the topic, QUICKLY find the topic in the research. Move to the next SIM, and do that for all 7. I got a good look at the easy vs. more difficult ones. Then when I went through the SIMs to actually work on them, I could click back and forth between the authoritative literature and the SIM problem. Worked like a charm for me. Didn't have a problem with the SIMs. The funny thing…. I found all my SIMs in the authoritative literature, EXCEPT the actual freaking research SIM >:o Funny how that works……I probably would have scored higher had I gotten the research question

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Did the topics really help out that much. I know that there are examples of information and tons of conceptual language regarding the topic, but did it really make or break your SIMS scores?
