    Ok, so I put in my 10 hours ( have to finish 2 tonight), but I took a break after 5 hrs today to go to the grocery store. I am walking in the store, reciting my short dinner list in my head, and I see a few people looking at me strangely. It dawns on me–OMG, I just stopped studying and got in the car. Literally.

    Not to gross anybody out, but am pretty sure I never combed my hair that morning, (yes, of course, I brushed my teeth), no make up whatsoever (luckily I am sporting a flaming case of stress acne–this is great camouflage for no makeup), and the big bonus, I am wearing my SLIPPERS. Fabulous!!! ( not a pretty picture ) Of course the Publix was mobbed, the game was over and it seemed like everyone and their mother’s brother was there buying comfort food since the Titans got spanked.

    So, I am thinking to myself, if I could just direct this focus while “powering” into reading the whole question before answering then I would be in business!!!

    hahahaha

    @Katie

    Don't tell me you shop at a Publix in Brentwood?…..

    Not anymore, but I know it oh so well! Mine's in Smyrna (we just finished our fantastic Publix deli fried chicken dinner), but since there are NO accounting jobs in the metro area that aren't in Maryland Farms (that may be a slight exaggeration), I've been to the Brentwood Publix many, many times for lunch. My last accounting gig was actually at a downtown firm after working in Maryland Farms since 2002, and I was shocked that it was an easier commute to go downtown than over to Brentwood.

    Ok, do you know Barbara's Home Cookin and Copper Kettle?

    Oh my goodness, I just realized you were in the BRENTWOOD Publix in your slippers. THAT's funny and a great visual.

    I've been to Brentwood…stayed at the Embassy Suites…hung out with Dave Ramsey's crew for a week doing counselor training.

    Hey, Jeff, why do you think there's such a high percentage of Tennessee candidates on this board?

    @katie

    LOL!! Actually I was at another Publix in Brentwood. But I worked at an accounting firm in Maryland Farms, so I know exactly what Publix you are talking about. Small world. I haven't been to either restaurant, but I have heard about the Copper Kettle. Maybe when I am done studying I will get out there. I looked at their websites, looks like great food. I am from Chicago, so I am used to traffic, but I will say the traffic in the Maryland Farms area can be gnarly!

    @Jeff

    I know exactly which one. I passed by Ramsey's office (is that where he broadcasts from?) this summer and he was doing his live show in the parking lot. I think it was right before I was going to sit for Audit and wasn't able to stop and listen, I was bummed. One thing I really like about him is that he makes great effort to dissecting financial matters down to a simplistic format. He certainly has alot of followers in this area..hard to drive without seeing his bumper sticker!

    Love Dave Ramsey. Went through FPU this summer and even though I was already familiar with all the concepts, it really changes your perspective and gives you the motivation to get it done.

    @yankee

    Ok, at Copper Kettle, get the goat cheese salad add chicken. Sounds awful, I know, but it's my death row meal. And hey, come to think of it, don't get it until spring when the mangoes are in season (yes there are mangoes in it). Their other stuff is really good too, I'm partial to the herbed chicken, sweet potato casserole, and GBC.

    Barbara's Home Cooking

    A restaurant in a little house out on Old Hillsboro Road. Looks unassuming but it's been written up in all kinds of food magazines and Southern Living, and the celebrities all around are regulars. Barbara is a 78 year old lady who stands in the kitchen and fries chicken JUST LIKE my mama did over a cast iron dutch oven in small batches. Her banana pudding is the real deal and JUST LIKE my grandmother's (real southern banana pudding has homemade vanilla pudding in it, not banana flavored jello pudding). Her yeast rolls are to die for. It's about $10 a head, but worth every penny.

    I will ask for recommendations when we head back to Chicago next year. I'm not going anywhere until this wretched exam is done.
