Me too! My head feels like it is filled with things that shouldn't be there 🙁 ear ache, body ache, the whole bit. I noticed “emergen-c” give me energy, so I'm just going to drink those all day. I have AUD the 25th and it's my last beast to slay, I can't miss out on any study time!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

I don't think there is really any great method for studying when you are sick. You just try to keep going. If your studying is feeling super unproductive, take a night off, get to bed early and really make it count once you start feeling better. If you start feeling under the weather, make sure you are taking Vitamin C, it really does help!

@gns – I see you just passed Reg (congrats!!!) – I am sitting for it on the 25th (hopefully my last cpa exam ever!) – wondering if you have any great tips for what worked/what didn't with your studying

hope you two start feeling better : )

@Peanut AUD is what I will be tackling hopefully soon. I have Yaeger Homestudy DVD's for AUD. I have the Wiley Online Test Bank Software as well. What do you use for AUD and do you feel it's the best material available? Memorizing definitions is one of my strong suits, calculating story problems is my weakness. Does this sound like I have a good chance of passing on the first try?

It won't help you now, but to keep from getting sick in the future, make sure you're getting at least 10 mins a day of sunshine. If you can't do that, supplement with Vitamin D3, 35 IU's per pound of body weight. Taking it with C, and a B complex if possible, will REALLY help your immune system out. I used to get sick every six weeks like clockwork until I started making sure I got enough D.

    AUD - 88
    FAR - 90
    REG - 85
    BEC - 88

@ARIASEM–Thank you very much =) I wrote in an earlier post that I would say make sure you don't overlook the small details. Try and get at least a general understanding of as much as possible. REG has a lot of info as you know, so at least if you recognize seeing something you may have a good chance at getting it right even if it wasn't something that was covered in a lot of detail in your review. If there is one particular topic that you are really struggling with (this happened to me with one particular topic) try not and stress too much about it because you may only see one or two questions on it. Make sure you don't down play business law! Good luck to you!! =) That has to be an amazing feeling to almost be done, and I'm sure you will be after your Feb REG exam. I am taking BEC on 2/28 and then debating on doing FAR before or after my June wedding. Any advice on FAR?

@gns121584, thanks! Wow you really rocked REG huh? Congrats! If you can pass REG… you can pass any of these beasts

@AnythingGoes75, I am using Becker + Wiley online test bank. I really bombed AUD back in October. I'm taking a different approach this time around! I'm great at memorizing, which has actually been a downfall in the exam process—sometimes I tend to memorize the actual question, instead of the theory behind it. If you have a good memory you should be able to rock AUD! Good luck!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

@gns – I actually just took and passed FAR! I did a week of studying before christmas/new years then just crammed the rest in after January 1 and took the test on January 20th. I used the Becker materials as well as supplemented with the NINJA notes and I thought they did a great job. I don't know how you study, but I am a lot better at a super focused 4/5 weeks (only 2/3 for BEC and AUD) rather than stretching the studying out over a longer period. My study approach is to watch the lectures and do the MC questions until I get 100% correct for each chapter before moving on to the next.

My main advice would be to write down a concise 2-4 pages of notes on the chapter after the multiple choice questions, before moving on to the next chapter. I've tried taking notes after the lectures and end up with way too much information, and I've also tried going back through the chapters after I have finished all of them to take notes on important items. This was an okay strategy for BEC and AUD, but on FAR there is just so much information that it is hard to remember the beginning by the time you get to the end. When I started writing notes down after I did the practice questions for each chapter, I ended up with more concise notes that I really understood.

Some other tips I picked up from posters on another71:

Take separate notes on journal entries so those could be reviewed all together rather than having to search through your notes for them.

Make a list of the top 10 things you don't understand and re-write them everyday leading up to the test. By doing this, you are essentially studying them everyday which can help you learn the 10 things, and even if you still don't understand it, you will probably have it memorized by test day and can write it on your scratch paper the day of the exam.

On another note – I don't know how much wedding planning you have left to do, but if you have time I would definitely recommend trying to sit before your wedding. Then hopefully you won't have to worry about this test after you are married and can just enjoy life!! 🙂

@Ariasem – Thanks for the ideas. I especially like the 10 things you don't understand. I really don't take a ton of notes either. I started this with the first chapter of REG and then stopped. Everyone is different, but for me it was more time consuming. I found it better at least with REG to just make notecards with the info that I didn't understand as well, or formulas, etc. I would then pull the ones that I didn't understand the most and review those right before the exam. I agree with not wanting to stretch it out. I did about 6 1/2 weks for audit and 7 1/2 for REG. BEC I'll end up about 4 1/2. That definitely tells me to try FAR before wedding. I will prob end up about same time as REG I'd think. Thanks so much again for advice.

@ Peanut, thanks so much! I wasn't expecting my score. Tax is not my favorite area. I'm sure you will conquer Audit too. I enjoy reading your posts on this forum. Good luck again!!

    @10YRS. Thanks =) You too!!
