    Hi,

i failed Audit and FAR twice with very low scores, so I am planning to do MS in Accounting, would it help me to pass CPA after doing MS in accounting? Or should i continue with CPA?

I am really confused, i studied like crazy, I used Becker as well WTB and Wiley book.

    Thanks in advance!

I think that will depend on your situation.

For me my degree is from the UK and I don't have any US qualifications. So I will go and do masters in accounting so that i have the CPA and a US masters Degree

Most people will say if you have your CPA then a masters in accounting isn't worth it. Maybe doing a MBA is a better choice or a masters in Taxation If you want to specialise in Tax.

    That's my two cents

Thanks! Maybe I'll just continue my CMA for now. It may go hand in hand after coming from public to private. 🙂

But if you already qualified to sit for the CPA exam with your international degree, then what's the point in getting another Accy degree in the US after you pass the CPA exam? When employers will see you are a CPA, they will automatically assume you must have an accounting degree or at least some accounting courses. It shouldn't matter from which country… But I may be wrong.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

I have had problems when. Looking for work. It's just amazes some employers look at my uk degree and ask what my gpa is lol completely disregarding I have 10 yrs work exp in both public and private companies

I also may be very unfortunate that in the event I don't pass the CPA exams by nov 2014

I won't have 150 hours to be licensed so I will have to do my masters. I am short by 40 semester hours. A masters will get me to 150

Oh. I see. In this case it makes sense.

And if you have years of experience, don't even bother including your GPA on your résumé. It's not required.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

That still doesn't stop you from getting an MS in Taxation 😉 it has more value.

I don't like Tax. Hence I didn't want to do masters in tax. I am not keen on doing an MBA either. It's not for me

I don't put a GPA on the resume. They ask me for it when I apply for a job or during the interview itself.

Well I am sure having. The CPA will be valuable enough but if I am unfortunate not to Complete the exams this year I will go get my masters in accounting. It will be required for the 150 hours make up anyway.

They ask you about GPA? Weird. Good companies shouldn't ask this if they see your experience! So is your GPA really low or are you using a different grading scale? Some countries have a 5.0 max system so if my GPA is 4.0, I have to convert it to 3.0 in the US.

Which MS in Accy program are you considering if you don't mind me asking?

I'm guessing you are from California like me 🙂

PS. This forum is addictive!!! Explains why people fail those exams 😉
