Should I change the order I take my tests? (Post FAR test)

    Hi Guys,

So I’ve been a lurker of Another71 for a while now, but not too much of an avid poster. I recently took FAR (yesterday) and I paced myself according to how I did on the Becker FAR Final Exams (always got through the sims in Becker pretty quick). I used the same time allocation on the real FAR test I took yesterday and freaked out when I got to the simulations (there were 7, when I was used to seeing 3-5 on Becker). I tried to do my best and complete as much as I could on each section to pick up as many points as I could, but left one completely blank). The MCQs weren’t too hard for me (hard, medium, medium).

Now I don’t know if I should assume that I failed and still review for FAR one day a week and study for BEC to take in early October (my original plan was to study for REG and take it end of Oct and take BEC at the end of Nov) or if I should just move onto REG and take it at the end of Oct and then study for BEC to take at the end of Nov. The study time is allocated equally no matter in which order I study in (8 weeks for FAR and 4 weeks for BEC).

Just wondering which one you guys think I should hit first? My main concern is that I’ll run out of gas in the middle of the next testing window…

Thanks guys, I appreciate your input!

    FAR - 8/30/11 [60] | 11/23/11 [88]
    REG - 10/28/11 [84]
    BEC - 1/2/12
    AUD - 1/21/12

Stick to your original plan. You might have done better on FAR than you thought so doing even a weekly review would be a waste of time. Worst case–you take REG and BEC and end up having to repeat FAR in January.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

    @Jimbo Slice

    Welcome!

I agree with KB, don't count yourself out with FAR, you just don't know. I also think it is hard for any of us to be truly objective as to our performance. We all tend to be a bit harder on ourselves. GL with FAR.

I would also agree with KB in that you should stick to your plan. You will find a way to get FAR in if need be.

Outside of that I have the link from the AIPCA website that I thought you might want to review. It you scroll down a few pages, you will see a chart that shows the content of each exam (#of mcq's and sims) and pretest etc. That way you will know b4 going into a exam. although if you have Becker, this info should be in the front of your review books.

    Best of luck!!

Never give up! Studying for test again before you get your scores is admitting defeat. It's a bad mindset to have. Stick to your original plan and you should be good.

    Aud 4/2/11 - 86
    Far 5/27/11 - 83
    Bec 7/1/11 - 82
    Reg 8/13/11 - 86! It's over!!!!

I began studying for FAR again after I took it because I knew I failed and guess what I did. I don't think it's admitting defeat because you already took the test and believe you did horrible. It's not like if you study all of the sudden your passing score will now be a failure.
