Seeking Test Bank advice…

    Happy Monday!

I am in a bit of a dilemma and would like some advice from my tried and true cpa friends. I am sitting for a FAR retake next Friday and just realized that my Wiley pin expires next Tuesday. I was originally a 2011 Yaeger student, which helped me pass BEC and AUD last Fall.

I got a great deal on CPA excel and really love the format and prefer the “bite sized lectures” to a daunting 51 hours of video which takes 100 hrs to get through by the time I pause and take notes/work the problems. BUT the cpa excel test bank seems a bit out dated and I have heard that it is best to supplement with Wiley, which I have been doing.

My question is what to do about not having Wiley for the crucial days leading up to the exam. I have contacted Wiley asking for a 4 day extension. They said it probably wasn’t possible, but that someone would contact me. Will I be okay with my Wiley book and CPA Excel or should I bite the bullet and buy the Wiley test bank? If I do not pass, I will need something anyways and I will definitely need something for REG. However, I do not like the 2012 format and thought about shopping around and trying Gleim or another option for REG. Lastly, has anyone printed questions/explanations from Wiley successfully?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    BEC 81
    AUD 76
    FAR 70, 76
    REG 58, 78! DONE!

    abacus,

In my opinion, the single most important factor for CPA exam success is working practice problems.

Don't be on the other side of score release day saying, “Gee, sure wish I had those extra four days of working problems.”

Not saying you won't pass without it, but you've had a taste of FAR already, and you know that beast comes well-armed and can attack from multiple angels…Working problems is the proverbial “Sword and Magic Helmet” ( Ballard of Elmer Fudd reference)

You still have REG in a month or so…get the damn test bank and a giant can of your favorite coffee and crank problems like a mad man.

Knock 'em both out and be done…looking back from the other side the small price will be irrelevant.

Think of it as $87 “insurance” if it nets you a few extra points and gets you North of a 75.

CPAExcel by itself (MCQs) is more than enough to pass.

Thank you all for the advice!

@CPA Terminator – Did you use CPA Excel?

    BEC 81
    AUD 76
    FAR 70, 76
    REG 58, 78! DONE!

@abacus…Yes, I have used CPAExcel for all sections+the Ninja Notes. I got the Wiley's tb for FAR, but barely used it. Just make sure you work the MCQs more than once and read the book thoroughly.

I personally agree with Jeff. I would think of it as insurance and spend the money to be safe. I would be lost without the Wiley testbank the few days before an exam!
