Scheduling of Exams

    Hey Guys!

So it’s time for me to schedule my exams. I’ve already started studying for FAR so I just scheduled to take it on July 3.

I need to pass all the exams by the end of the year so I’m trying to figure out when to schedule the other parts. Before I started studying for FAR, I started on AUD since I thought I’d be taking that one first. But AUD is slightly changing anyways, so I’m going to start over. Though, I’m sure a lot of the stuff I already studied will still be relevant. Also, I don’t think I should take BEC last because I’ve heard it takes them longer to grade, and I’ll need to get all my scores in December in time to apply for my license before the 2014 changes in CA.

So any suggestions on the order and how many weeks I’ll need to study per section?

    Thanks!!!

    FAR 7/3/13 - 82
    BEC 8/21/13 - 82
    AUD 10/2/13 - 92
    REG 12/3/13 - 88

FAR first is what most people do since it's the longest one to study for. FAR –> AUD –> BEC –> REG would be nice, but it would mostly be up to you. As for study time.. FAR = ~180 hours, AUD = ~100 hours, BEC = ~100 hours, REG = ~150 hours. These are just estimations though.. some people will study and pass in less, some people might take more. Just depends on you!

    AUD: Passed
    BEC: Passed
    REG: Studying

I agree with xdesix. I am doing them in that exact order and based on the material it seems the most efficient and with the maximum amount of overlap between sections possible. Good luck!!!

    FAR - passed, 11/12
    AUD - passed, 5/13

Hmm that order does sound good. But, I actually just signed up before I saw the responses and have it currently set as:

    FAR – July 3

    BEC – August 13

    REG – October 14

    AUD – November 26

Do you think I should switch it? I just know I want to take REG third because it will require more study hours than BEC or AUD, and I'll have more study time for my third exam due to the break in testing windows. So maybe I should switch AUD and BEC? Does it even matter? Thanks in advance!!

    FAR 7/3/13 - 82
    BEC 8/21/13 - 82
    AUD 10/2/13 - 92
    REG 12/3/13 - 88

As I wait for my NTS, I think what I'm going to do is:

    FAR – mid-to-late July

    BEC – late August

    REG – mid-October

    AUD – late November

Seems pretty similar to yours, except you're allowing more time for REG. I'm personally leaving the least time for BEC because that's my strongest area.

@sarita & bronxbombers2 I would move BEC and AUD to be next to each other in line. You will benefit from their similarity in some topics. REG is the most unlike the rest (in my opinion) I wouldn't put that in the middle. my 2 cents!

Is ~6 weeks enough for REG, though? I would put it last because I'm definitely taking FAR first, unless I move REG to late August. I might do that.

It could be enough time, if you are doing 20 hrs a week. I took FAR first and don't regret it. Idealyl I would do FAR-BEC-AUD-REG (if I had to do it over). xdesix recommended 150 hrs, all depends how you grasp tax.

Tax isn't my best subject, but I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing in terms of working. Hopefully I have something by the time I take REG in November; that would completely suck otherwise. Thanks!

Haha no not quite, but I plan on proposing to my girlfriend soon (shh!) and we'll probably get married spring/summer 2014… so I'd like to have it all done before walking down the aisle 🙂
