I have been debating back and forth between taking FAR this Saturday or rescheduling it for a later date. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being “100% ready”) I feel like I will be at a 6.5 by the time the test day comes.

With that being said, I am still considering just forging ahead and taking the test. I figure if nothing else I will at least know what the test is truly like and get a good assessment of where I am at.

Any advice? Reschedule, or go ahead with the test?

P.S. – Every time you fail a test section, you repay the ~$200 test section fee, correct?

I was in a boat similar to yours. I actually scheduled my FAR exam for mid-August initially and then realized that would leave me a LOT of time (I'm just finishing F9 tonight).

My advice is to just proceed full speed ahead and hope for the best–it's what I'm doing. When it all comes down to it, I think I will get as much accomplished in 9 days of review as I would in a month; the only difference is I'll be doing it over a shorter time period. Not to sound cynical, but I think my chances of passing FAR are equally as good whether I spend a day or a year reviewing this stuff.

I should probably also mention that I'm not working right now because my start date is deferred until mid-August, so the only responsibility I have on any given day is studying. It might not be the same for you.

Also, you will probably always feel like you could use more time to prepare, but at some point you just have to go in there with all you've learned and do the best you can.

I felt this way before my FAR exam and started to panic as I was running out of time…it takes a lot longer than you think to review all the material!! I asked a similar question – should I just take it or try and squeeze it in in the next testing window and everyone told me I should just take it and see what happens…so I did and test day was terrible for me, BUT I did pass with a 78 amazingly! I felt like I knew nothing during the exam because my head just had so much floating around in it, but I obviously did know a few things…

So my advice is to just take it…maybe you are more prepared than you think and can pull it off like I did…

And to answer your question about fees – yes, it does cost every time you fail because you have to get a new NTS in order to schedule another sitting of the exam…
