I take REG in a little over a week and I just finished going over the Yaeger review course. Ive purchased the NINJA study guide and will be reading through it and doing AICPA released questions at the same time. But while reading over the first few pages of the NINJA notes, I am starting to freak out since I have no idea how Im going to remember everything. Just looking for some encouragement, and any last minute tips on what to focus on. Thanks yall!

@dsal – Good luck to you. I take REG 1/17 and am sitting here studying panicking because the material just doesn't seem to stick. There are so many little details. Hang in there and I am sure you will do great! Again, good luck.

Just keep studying and work as many MCQ's as possible. The repetition of the questions helps to lock in the material and reinforce the concepts. I have REG scheduled this upcoming window as well. I know this will be a difficult exam but all we can do is prepare and then do our best. Good luck to you both.

    FAR - 80 (05/23/11)
    AUD - 92 (07/27/11)
    BEC - 81 (10/24/11)

My biggest mistake when tackling REG is that I was trying so hard to remember everything. And that is why I failed twice. Do not try to remember anything. Grasp the concept and see the big picture. If you find yourself forgetting things, it's because you're memorizing rather than understanding. Focus more on understanding the concepts rather than trying to memorize everything. Because if you try to memorize, these exams will eat you alive. Remember the magic word…. CONCEPT!

@KTE, thank you! Good luck to you as well!

Thanks cpaman. I have to tell myself that with REG. I am trying to memorize a lot with this one. Audit flowed much more in my opinion. Will keep in mind, concepts!

    AUD - PASSED - 84 -(11/21/11)
    REG - PASSED - 83 -(1/17/12)

im not really sure how to focus on a concept when the material is so driven by rules, limits, and cutoffs. i will keep all your advice in mind and start doing AICPA released questions from the book and those available online rather than redoing module questions ive already done w the Wiley book. good luck to everyone else!

Dsal, I know what you mean, that is a problem I'm having because I feel like everything is so detailed and you have to know the exceptions/rules/exceptions to exceptions/etc….

    AUD - PASSED - 84 -(11/21/11)
    REG - PASSED - 83 -(1/17/12)
    BEC - PASSED - 86 -(2/28/12)
    FAR - PASSED - 84 -(5/14/12)
    I AM DONE!!!!

It's relieving to see that other people here are struggling with REG like I am. I cannot begin to say how much of a nightmare this section is for me. And the way it's graded, it feels like it's not curved as generously like the other 3 sections. So in order to get 75 points, I feel like I have to be an expert in this stuff. It wasn't like that with the other 3 sections. It baffles me. All 4 sections have almost the same passing rate. So I keep asking myself, where am I going wrong here? Why is this particular section so difficult for me? If I can pass the other 3, surely I can pass this one.

I am having trouble at remembering stuff too. I finally finished doing all the MCQ and now am in review mode.

    Individual texes

    Corp Taxes

    S-corps

    Exempt entities

    Partnerships

    Estate and Gift

    Ethics

    Business entities (Advantages/Disadvantages)

    Contracts/Sales

    Common law,etc..

Basically split all these up and write down some stuff which will help you later on. Read the chapters AGAIN

(Every Chapter, if you have some time left).

sam boat with u ! i agree with u that concept is the most important things. i put too much time to study b-law and tax procedure last time, and didn't study hard as i considered for my second trial. just finished listened to the cram course, i think it is good, and it highlight some detaisl u need toknowin the exam. And if u have time, u might want to go and listen. also, i rewrite my note , and created so many flash cards.hopefull, it will help me to get the nasty “3” points back. the most important thing, the luck!!! and i think i need 2 hours for simulatiob b/c i always out of patient while working with the simulation. Plus, keyword…i need to concentrate that!!

    good luck to all
