I have a question – is it doable to take 2 exams within 1 quarter? REG & AUD. I work part time (30 hous/week) I will be able to study 6 hours a day and full time on weekend.

If you focus only on your work and studies, it’s totally doable! I just passed my last section and passed all 4 parts in 5.5 months while working full-time at a public accounting firm. I had a hard time focusing while waiting for my score though. It was like an emotional roller coaster :(. My longest waiting period was a month. I took FAR and AUD in one quarter and BEC and REG in a second quarter. I also had about 5 weeks of not studying built-in in the 5.5 months period (for rest and due to a busy time at work). P.S. I haven’t had a true vacation in the last 5 years and I also didn’t want to be taking the test for years. I really wanted this to be done and over with, so I could have my social life back. This was my motivation, which truly helped me through some difficult times. Find something that would motivate you and go for it. YOU can do it.

Definitely possible, especially working part time. Not the same tests, but I took REG and BEC in the same quarter and passed both, while working full time. With the exception of FAR, I took an exam every 2 months or so and passed all 4 within about 8 months. You'll have to have a consistent study schedule but you can definitely do it.

Yes. That is how I always suggest people do it. Take 2 exam in a quarter to knock it out more quicker. Take one early in the quarter and another one close to the end.

This is remarkable. How did you manage to do this in one go? people take sometimes 8, 9, 10 go at these exams? To top it off, you did it in 5 months.

@Tugga, it was rough, to say the least. But I was very determined because I got so sick of not having ANY social life. Originally, I went back for my bachelor’s in 2014, finished that in 3 years (1 year of credits got transferred from a previous university that I attended about 10 years ago at that time). Then I did online master’s program in 10 months while starting my first accounting job in public accounting – took classes during off season. I graduated in June 2019 and started studying for my first CPA exam, FAR, in mid June to take it on July 29th. My last exam was on December 2, 2019.

I’m not trying to brag but want to encourage those who want to get the CPA done ASAP. It’s possible, but be ready not to have any social life (it was only the CPA and work for me). I’m single with no kids, so I think that helped me. I feel like it’s also important to listen to yourself as you plan your studying schedule. Listen to what’s more important to YOU. Some people called me crazy when I told them my plans. I told friends “no” to going out every time they asked me. I feel like this journey showed me who my true friends were (those who were willing to wait and didn’t get upset with me that I couldn’t come). I knew I had to be 100% focused on studying because even one day of going out would affect my studying schedule not only on that day but probably the next day (I’m not super young anymore, so I need a day off after I go out 😃). I also planned on studying every day during the week (planned my time off only in between sections). Some people said it was wrong and I needed a day off. I agree that it gets really tiring. However, I instead allowed myself to take an evening off here and there when I felt I needed it instead of just scheduling a night off every week. It worked well for me. Again, just listen to yourself and your body.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, willing to share how I studied and etc. I had to slightly adjust my study plan for every section as I found every section to have a different challenge.

I am doing them in back-to-back weeks, so I'll have to report back come score release next month!

REG was today and went fine (I think…) — though, I've worked in tax for a few years and did really well on my first go-round, which of course expired.

AUD is my personal hell, and I'm taking it next Friday. My scores are 66/72/73/74 on that bad boy to date, and life happenings plus those beauties helped me lose all my other scores that were all one and done. I probably should've done it first this time, but I am so freaked out by that dang test now that I had to do something else to get my confidence back up.

I have no advice to give on AUD, but you can get by on REG with enough memorization of the BLAW definitions and practice in tax questions. Make sure to review tax court rules and procedures, the thresholds for “more likely than not,” “substantial authority,” all that jazz. It's easy to breeze past — don't do it!
