REG and FAR study time allocation

So Im trying to decide how to plan my study time for my last two CPA tests, REG and FAR.

I passed AUD back in May, and with any luck, I’ll be knocking out BEC on July 3.

My goal is to get all 4 tests passed by the end of this testing window, as I am without an accounting job right now and if I go into the career fairs my schools offer with my CPA tests done (I graduated with my MSA this past April) my odds of getting interviews and subsequent offers will be much higher.

So, tentatively I was thinking REG at the end of July (about 4 weeks of study time) and then FAR at the end of August (about 4 weeks of study time).

But from what I’m reading, I’m thinking that I might possibly be better off at squeezing REG out a tad faster so I have an extra week to study FAR…

I am strong in taxes (individual, corporate, investments etc) but a bit weak on the case-law and other areas.

For FAR, I haven’t had a financial accounting class since last summer, so I am anticipating needing to brush some rust off….also, I didn’t take advanced financial accounting in school (just intermediate i,ii) so there will be some genuinely new concepts presented to me that I may need more time to wrap my head around.

I am only working about 15 hours a week right now at a restaurant, so I have been studying pretty much a 9-5ish type schedule Sunday through Thursday.

From your experiences, under my pretty wide-open study time availability, should I try a 4wk/4wk split? Or would a 3wk/5wk (reg/far) be wiser perhaps due to the larger volume and complex nature of the material in FAR?

I am using CPAexcel self study.

I would say FAR takes more time. REG comes really close though. I took 6 and 1/2 weeks for FAR and I am studying 6 weeks for REG. I only needed 4 weeks for AUD. I haven't taken BEC yet, but I think 5 weeks should be enough time.

If you are absolutely determined to finish both in the same window, I guess spend more time on FAR. 4 weeks for both of those exams is not a whole lot of time, even studying all day so just be sure to not move on if you aren't understanding everything. Good luck!!

I did AUD in 4 weeks, and am on pace to have done BEC in 3…(granted who knows if I'll be passing it or not)

The world does not end if I do not pass all 4 before the end of this window, but I certainly want to give it a fair shot.

As I did not procure an internship, I am really hoping to have the test done come recruiting season to compensate.
