Question about AUD

I’ve taken auditing in college before and I just finished the first chapter of Roger’s audit review. So far it seems like the majority of the information is just common sense with some new terminology here and there. Compared to when I was studying for FAR, I felt like I barely needed to focus on what Roger was saying.

I am wondering if this just because I am on chapter 1, or is the majority of AUD pretty much just common sense with different terminologies? I want to know this so I have an idea what’s ahead.

    FAR 85 June 2015
    AUD 80 Nov 2015
    REG 83 Nov 2015
    BEC 79 Feb 2016

I also thought AUD was just common sense and thought I was invincible after getting an 88 and 87 on FAR and REG, respectively. As you can see, that strategy led to me barely passing AUD. That's all I've got.

@CaseyTX: Lmao, I like how you had that parentheses next to your AUD score in your sig. Compared to FAR and REG, did you spend less time on AUD? You did extremely well on the other 3 parts, so what do you think were the different factors that led you to have a 77 on the AUD?

    FAR 85 June 2015
    AUD 80 Nov 2015
    REG 83 Nov 2015
    BEC 79 Feb 2016

For the most part yes. I also had taken an audit class like a year before i tested. I recalled a lot of the information from that. Id say though that Transaction Cycles, Assertion relationships and ratios along with some of the Governmental Auditing standards were helpful for review. I think you'll find that you need to pay attention to those topics when you have them.

    AUD 5/28/15 - 98
    FAR 7/3/15 - 86
    BEC 7/20/15 - 89
    REG 8/24/15 - 85

Honestly, I barely studied at all for AUD. I only read 4 of 6 chapters in the Becker book and didn't do a ton of MCQs. Hardly watched any of the lectures. It all seemed like common sense, just as you said, and I felt like there was no way AUD could be tougher than FAR or REG. But I remember getting a lot of seemingly tricky questions on the exam. The way the questions were worded sometimes threw me off. It was clear I did not spend enough time doing MCQs in my prep. I knew I did well on the Sims, and my score report confirmed it, but I did really poorly on the MCQs (got “weaker” in all but 2 categories in my score report).

Do not underestimate AUD. You have to know the transaction cycles and it's assertions real well. That's what trips up candidates often.
