AnonymousInactive@eel
I am having a miserable day too! My friends went for a bike ride around houston and I am stuck inside studying. I am doing a good job. Just gotta go through the Cashflow and NFP and Governmental questions. Then I will review everything and take a practice test. It sucks but is temporary.

HustlinHustlinMemberI'm in! I am currently at my office, the only one here. Time to buckle down and focus – there is no excuse for distractions! My showdown with REG is Tuesday and I plan on finishing rewriting 4 more chapters of notes, and doing MCQs like crazy. I am finally giving in and buying Wiley test bank!

F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)May 19, 2012 at 6:48 pm #344590
Mom2twoMemberGood luck everyone! BEC in 7 days for me! I am done with the lectures and M/C, the rewrite and the flashcards. I am hoping intense MC between now and then will be enough, planning Wiley test bank 4 hours a day. I feel iffy on the econ section still! For some reason my brain does not want to understand how international economics works…when something depreciates/appreciates against the USD what happens to imports and exports. And vomit. I am like ummmm don't buy in that country? 🙂 If anyone has a trick to remember for that I would greatly appreciate it!

AnonymousInactive@Mom2two – try to make the situation personal. So for example, you plan on traveling to Europe. If the dollar APPRECIATES against the Euro, everything in Europe will be cheaper for you and you will buy more items in Europe since it is cheaper. So, from a US perspective, when the dollar appreciates, imports will increase.
Conversely, if the US dollar APPRECIATES against the Euro, it also means by definition the Euro has DEPRECIATED against the dollar. So, items denominated in US dollars are more expense to Europeans. So, our exports will go down. Regardless of the problem, if you can kind of use an example, it should make it click a little better.
I hope this helps!

jomarieParticipantIt must be going around. I've been totally depressed today. But I think I'm taking the day off then get back at it tomorrow.

AnonymousInactiveI feel ya! I had about an hour of depression when I was trying to figure out Bonds. I hate bonds…totally overwhelmed. I moved on to some other things and feel better so I am going back to bonds now. Wish me luck…As far as taking a day off…well…test is coming up quickly and one day can make a difference between pass and fail. I know it sucks and you want to spend time with you family but think about if you sacrifice this day along with your remaining 11 or however many and you end up passing. Then you get to spend a hell of a lot more time with them. I hope I am not coming across unsupportive or rude but maybe a kick in the booty will help. You can do this! Even if you just study for 2 hours! Every second helps!

Mom2twoMemberCome on, Come on, Come on JoMarie…..push through. 10 days…push for 10 days….you can do it. I took the financial peace university by Dave Ramsey and in it he talks about tackling debt with gazelle intensity…it is so funny…I will look and see if it is on youtube some where. But he goes in order to tackle the debt (or in this “lecture” he was talking about turning down credit card offers), you have to get gazelle like intensity and RUUUUNNNN, run away. That is you…FAR is the lion chasing you and you have to get gazelle like intensity with studying to run away (beat it). You can do it, 10 days left, you will kick yourself if you could have used just a few more hours. Take a 15 minute break, love on your girls, than take three deep breaths and plow through for another hour. 10 minute break, few more deep breaths, another hour of studying. I am going on and on because I know you want this and I know you can do it. Don't procrastinate…I know that feeling, I take a break today, then tomorrow I get less done than I wanted because I get burnt out faster and the cycle continues. So please just push for 10 days….rooting for you and your success. 🙂

Mom2twoMemberSorry wanted to add one more thing, I just read this about the gazelle analogy:
Just remember, the gazelle dies if:
He stops to look back. So focus on your goal. Don't go back to where you were. There's a cheetah there.
Focus on your goal Jo Marie and don't look back. Your goal is pass FAR on May 31st. Don't let depression, self doubt, lack of time, mommy guilt or any of that cause you to look back. You will PASS, you will PASS, you will get that intensity and PASS. This is your time, your year, you can do this.

jomarieParticipantThank you everyone. It's been a very tough and emotional day for me. It's amazing how this whole process tests you in so many ways. Once I'm done with this exam process there are going to be so many doors opening for me. My dream that I've had since middle school, yes that's when I decided to become a CPA, will come true. I think I need to write it down and post it every where around the house so it's always staring me in the face. I've chased this dream this far, there's no turning back now!!!
I'm going to make dinner as planned then hit the books with an extra large coffee from Tim Hortons. Go until I can't keep my eyes open any longer. I'll start my workout that I planned in the am!!

pacific1Participant@jomarie – I think the workouts is a wonderful idea! I started a couple weeks back on a regular schedule and it really helps me. I used to study when working out, reading NINJA notes or whatever but the last few weeks I have changed that up, I make it my time, it is time I get to read my magazines and just turn off my brain for the most part…I think we all need that time when our brain is not all about testing and memorization!

jomarieParticipantI never made it out to workout this morning. Maybe after dinner tonight. Supposed to be a hot one today, so I'll wait until after it cools down a little.

ledgermavenMemberyou all are inspiring! I had a good study day with 10 mostly effective hours yesterday and hope to do the same today. Finishing parnterhsip and foreign currency translation then on to government…
This is my first exam ever, doing FAR, and I will have a week to review material for third time. I was going to do practice exam in back of wiley book and the aicpa practice exam (both at 8:00 am like my test is scheduled on 5/31). Are there other practice exams to take besides just making batches up in the wiley and gleim test banks?
thanks

AnonymousInactiveMy day is going not so great. I've had a lot of interruptions, BEC calcs are killing me at this point and my overall focus isn't the greatest today…..not a good way to start my final review!
