Passing Without Video/Audio?

Has anybody had success passing with just a book and a test bank? I took FAR and am nervous.

For future test sections should I be looking to get a video? Will that speed up the learning curve? I think I may try to sit for AUD at the end of this window.

    No videos/audio for me either.

AUD 80 – Test bank only

BEC 86 – Test bank only

REG 74 – Test bank only

REG 81 – Test bank and flash cards

FAR 86 – Test bank and e-book for Governmental and Not-for-profit

I always advise people to take ONE exam before buying any expensive videos or review courses. Worst case scenario, you lose $250 for a wasted exam fee. Best case scenario, you save $3,000.

I used the Gleim textbooks and online test banks only. So far I have passed FAR and AUD on the first try (crossing my fingers the same will work for REG ). For some reason I have not had any success listening to the audio or video, I think it all depends on your learning style and how you absorb information the best!

I noticed you got an additional E-Book for NFP and Government. Care to share what it was and if it was effective?

Also, is it possible to focus more on the videos and not have to read the book cover to cover? I would pay to NOT have to crack open another gleim book!

It was the CPAexcel FAR book and it was only $18.69. I had absolutely no exposure to Governmental and Not-for-profit, so the info in there was a lifesaver. I wouldn't try to use it with a regular Kindle but it worked great on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and would probably be good on an iPad as well.

I tried the no video/audio method and failed both FAR and BEC. Like others have said, it really depends on how you learn. I realized that I needed to see how some of the questions were worked out step by step.

I was going to try with just the book, but I found that it was too much material to cover. I found myself wandering around the book trying to cover everything only to make myself frustrated. I agree it matter how you learn, Yes, I could read the book but I would rather nail down the topics and get to the point. If it is something that is not likely to be on the exam, I don't want to spend time reading and doing mcq's. So the videos helped me get a handle on what to study.

The other thing about video's is that you can spend too much time with them too. I found myself starting and stopping trying to take good notes. So at some point you have to ditch the videos when it's getting too close to test time, there is a such thing as too committed to the videos too (learned that the hard way).

However, it's doable depending upon the time you are willing to commit, either way you will have to study.

    It begins with a 75
