Hey guys,

I’m just now getting started on my certification. I just bought Becker yesterday meaning I have until June to activate it. Originally I planned to wait until the exam change and get started after April, which would allow me the 18 months to pace myself.

Or…… I could started cramming now and attempt to pass every exam by the end of March. Could I get your feedback on whether this is feasible? I’m a recent graduate so everything is still sort of fresh in my mind… although I know there’s still a lot of work to do.

I think it depends on you and other demands for time. If my full time job was exam prep, and I did nothing else…with a good background…that would be very doable.

Might be pretty hard to pass all parts by April considering you can't test for most of March. I would say start studying REG right now and take in the middle of January then take BEC at the beginning of March. Those two are the ones that will be changing most significantly so if you can knock them out before the change, that would be great! Also, apply ASAP because it took me over two months to get my first NTS.

I have a similar goal. I want to pass all four parts by May. I am going to buckle down and study as if it is a full time job so this should at least make my goal reasonable. Im torn between which review course to use. Are all review courses pretty much the same? I am torn between Rogers CPA Review and Yaeger Review. Any advice on which review courses are the best and how to make the decision? I know it is mostly based on learning styles but what about the intangibles like customer service? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Considering the window before April has only 2 months that might be pretty hard. But if you are not working I would totally encourage you to get it done. If you are able to do that kuddos to you, you'd be ahead of the game for sure.
If you were to study per say 6 to 8 hours a day, I would say you could:

Hit the BEC Material and take it around Jan 20??? Thats pushing it.
Then hit REG and take it Feb 20?
Lastly you could TRY to pass Audit IF you find a spot on March 10?
And you would need to end up doing FAR after the new changes take place.

Now that is REALLY pushing it and assuming you find good dates for your prometric testing, but considering you are a fresh graduate and are still used to studying, you should be alright. You won't have a life for the next 5 months or so but at least you don't have to suffer for 18 months or more trying to pass any section while working full time, which can get pretty damn insane if you work long hours. You'd also have to send your application to the board right away since they can take forever the first time you apply.

Unlikely. One-third of the material I had never seen before, so it didn't help that I started right after graduation. I had the university's highest score on the audit final exam my last semester, yet I still failed AUD. It's night and day compared to college exams.

^ I agree with u 100%. I did not have the highest grade in my University Auditing class, but I was one of the best students. The CPA Exam is a Monster compared with my University Auditing class. We probably covered 60% of what is testable on the CPA, but the class gave me an excellent foundation. Goodluck everyone!
