Hello to Jeff and all the members of the forum.

I recently started studying for the CPA exam again months ago. I have yet to passed any exams yet, but I am working hard to pass them.

My story goes as follows. A few years ago during the height of the recession, I got laid off from my AP accounting job. Due to my lack of work experience, I had a hard time looking for work and with the limited funds I had, I was unable to take the CPA exams. Fast forward a few years later, I was able to land a job in retail. It sucks, but it did pays some bills. Recently though, it got to the point where I am so sick of it and really need to get out of retail. I recently became an EA, but my ultimate goal is to obtain my CPA license. I just purchased entire Gleim 2014 CPA review course (The only thing I can really afford right now) and will be studying like mad to pass the exams. Because of my limited work experience, I need to pass the exams ASAP and need to study with a sense of urgency.

Lately, I have been taking both an active approach to networking to look for job leads, and at the same time, I am also studying for the CPA exams. I found out about this forum a month ago at a Mixer, sponsored by CalCPA, and have been enjoying reading all the threads and posts. Like most of the posters here who are aspiring to become CPAs or acquiring other designations, I applaud you guys and ladies for not giving up and continue to march on for every failure. I myself am not giving up because i know I will achieve the goal of becoming a CPA one day.

It is due to this forum, that has been keeping me sane and motivated both from my job and for each exam failure.

Thanks tncincy. I know full well that getting the cpa is like a marathon. You just got to pace yourself and strategize. Whats motivating me so much is getting so fed up with retail that I just need to do anything I can to get the Heck out of it. You can only put up with so much with the high stress, low pay, and the incompetence.

Hello Jeff. I could be building evil Terminator killer robots to take over the world but unfortunately, it would take away too much time from my studying. LOL!

Hello and thanks NeverGiveUpCPA. When I took BEC and REG, I was using only Wileys books only. I got scores of 64 and 71 respectively. I was a little disappointed but I also realized it didnt fully prepare me for the exam. Like some posters have said, readin Wileys is like reading a dictionary. So I felt I had to get different materials which is why I decided to go with Gleim after a fair amount of research. Withthe 10% holiday discount for 18months access, it was too good to pass up. It came to only $225 per section and so far I am happy with it. I will however supplement it with Wileys as well too.

Hello Ajaz0810. As I told Study Monk, I am qutie pleased with he Gleim materials so far and plan to supplement it with Wileys. Right now I will use all resources necessary to try and pass he CPA exams. Having an BS in Accounting degree and not becoming a CPA would be such a waste of time, energy, and money that I have spent over he years. So for me getting the CPA is a must. Plus with it, it opens up a world of opportunities later on. I always tell msyself and others that the CPA is an investment for the future. It is why current cpas and candidates like us so hgihly covet this prestigious designation and we all work extremely hard to try and get it.
