So I took FAR on July 1…found out a month later that I got a 70 on it so I didn’t pass. I had started Audit while I was waiting but I had way too many things going on in July…bunch of interviews, etc. So I postponed studying for the CPA exam to focus on more important things. Now all that’s over. I landed an offer and I start second week of October. Which means I want to start studying for a section to get one out of the way.

I was thinking I would start studying BEC and get it out of the way because from looking at it, it seems like I can understand it much better and the Wiley textbook for BEC is so short! I would want to take it first week of October before I start my full time job.

Another option was to go study FAR again. I just feel like I will need more time with it and will probably end up taking it end of October or early November? And I really want to show my employer (Big4) that I am taking the CPA exam seriously so I want to show them that I took another exam right before starting work. But I don’t know.

Studying while working full time will be difficult too. I think I can do about 2-3 hours on weekdays and about 5-6 hours on saturdays and sundays with some adjustments here and there.

But how should I go about this?

Let me please suggest to you to retake FAR in October before you start working. It won't take that long to restudy. A lot of what you learned the first time around should still be with you since its only been like 2 months. Get the hard parts out of the way first, because once work starts, it'll be harder to study..

Too bad I am deathly afraid of FAR and don't feel like I will be prepared in 1 month.

Do you recommend a study plan? I am using Yaeger

I used Becker and barely passed. I'm not sure how Yaeger is, but I haven't heard anything bad about it. Maybe just change your study habits. Do you practice at least 150 MCQs a day?

Well I think I did more than that. I was the weakest on Simulations. The last time I looked at FAR was July 1. I really wanted to try to get BEC out of the way before I started. And then jump into FAR later on. I know it will be difficult but I think I can stay committed if I have motivation from passing BEC. Like I said before, it would take 2-3 hours of study on Mondays-Fridays. And about 5-6 hours on Saturdays-Sundays. ~20 hours a week.

I just think 1 month more is not going to cut it for me and FAR. I'll need more

It really depends how much time you are willing to commit a day to it. When I study, I do about 6-7 hours of studying every day for 5-6 weeks. I work the homeworks twice around and then do progress tests afterwards. I rewatch the videos. Re-read the textbook.

If the SIMs are your main problem, I'd say you have to attack them differently. How? I don't know, but don't fear them. You have to dominate them and show them who is in control. Of course, REG SIMs will probably destroy me Thursday so what do I know?

Good luck on your exam Thursday. You will surely do a great job.
