Need Motivation… PLEASE!

Monday I received my REG score… 73, and my second attempt at the test. This seems to be my luck lately. I have three tests left, REG, BEC, and FAR. I passed AUD in August of 2012 and will lose my pass if I don’t pass the three remaining before March 1, 2014. I took FAR in May, made a 72 – my 2nd attempt at that one too. The first go round I made a 73. And, I took BEC on August 1 and made a 74. First time for that one I scored a 70. I feel like I’m soooo close, but I just can’t make the mark. I’m dying here! A little dramatic yes, but this damn test is dominating my life! I feel like I’m spinning my wheels, getting absolutely nowhere! I’m begging for some motivation. Does anyone have any study tips? Anything that can make this seem attainable? I have tried EVERYTHING. Studying with and without music, going to the local university and setting up camp there, sitting at my kitchen table, taking my stuff to work. I am literally sitting in front of my computer for hours a day. I’ve completed Becker. I’m working with Wiley and NINJA now. I’m listening to the audio, working through the flash cards, reading, working MCs. NOTHING I do is working. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. I’m inches away from throwing in the towel!

I'm sorry. I know it is disheartening, but you are SO close! How exactly do you study? Not where, but how? Do you read the book and then work MCQs? Do you practice SIMS? Do you rewrite your notes? Do you focus on your problem topics or continue to work on your good topics to help build confidence? Do you google topics that you don't understand after reviewing your study materials?

@Ann, it's too late for you to quit! You already passed AUD. Don't think about losing it. Just keep going. Your scores were really so close.

If I were you, I would take FAR at the very last day of this testing window. Do everything in your power to pass it using the same materials you've used. Becker's final review materials at the second or last week before the actual test are really helpful, I think.

Take one day off on 12/7. Don't think about either FAR's test and score. Come 12/8, hit the books again for REG and schedule it for 1/2/2014. Take one day off. If you didn't pass FAR taken from Dec, take it again after REG anytime in Jan or early of Feb. Take one day off.

Hit the books for BEC and schedule it before mid of March.

    You can do it!

    God bless us all!!

Get mad! Get revenge! Think of everything you sacrificed for each of those scores. Then get madder! Channel that rage at the exam and pass! Every time you think you can't go on, get madder! This test is a bully. I've said it so many times, and it's still true. The grading seems arbitrary. The whole process is a freaking national secret. I'm guessing even the NSA doesn't know how this thing is graded. But it's worth it. I know. I've been in your shoes. I was you. I listened to all of the voices telling me that I wasn't good enough because I didn't pass on the first attempt. They were wrong! You can do this. You just have to tell yourself that you can do this. All of those negative thoughts in your head are just going to lead you to a very dark place. I've been there too. It sucks. I got out of it when I got mad! The only way to fail is to quit. Don't quit and you won't fail. I found out I had cancer just days after I got my last passing score. I knew I had it when I took the last test. I knew that when you have one 1cm tumor in October and have 5 tumors over 1.5cm in February that means cancer. That just made me madder. I wasn't about to let a bully steal five years of my life for me to just die without those letters after my name. Don't let the bully steal your life! I got mad and I stayed mad. I beat the exam and I beat thyroid cancer. And I did it because I GOT MAD! So how mad are you? Mad enough to punch the bully in the gut and take your life back? I hope so! Because if you don't, it will steal your lunch money and your life. GET MAD!
