Need advice! Busy season vs. Far and Reg this window vs. CA additional reqs - Page 2

    Ninjas I need your advice,

    Considerations:

    1. As of right now I am scheduled to take REG in two weeks. I haven’t done anything but written notes on the 2nd half (business law section) and done about 20 MCQ. Panic is setting in as busy season is in full effect for the next 4-5 weeks.

    2. I am also scheduled to retake FAR right before Thanksgiving. This is the exam that has eaten up my year, but I feel confident that with a little more studying I will eventually get it.

    3. I am trying to pass them all before 2014 other wise back to school I go! Which I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t cost so much for just a couple of units.

    4. My BEC and AUD expire in Spring 2014…if they do, I don’t how I will bring myself to continue this…its been the biggest stress in my life for the past 3 years.

I would think by this point I would have this more figured out. Everytime I start studying again it is a different method and I never feel like there is enough time.

I JUST want to be done!!!

So, do I still give REG a shot in two weeks? or drop it and focus on FAR for the rest of this week?

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

Experience - Done, like WAAAY done.
Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)

    Hustlin,

I know how your audit busy season can be. My boyfriend is an auditor like you. But I also know how determined you were last year and how you defeated your first passes. I know you can do this. Can you do REG mcq's nonstop for two weeks in your “freetime”? As for FAR I recommend getting Yaeger Cram. I passed audit with it and my boyfriend passed Reg(each our respective weaknesses).

    Hang in there!!! Good luck!!!!

Thanks, littlenumber! You've always been great support.

I'm leaning toward rescheduling for Jan and just focusing on finally knocking FAR out this window.

I'll have to face the fact that I need to get additional units but I just don't have the time to try to cram. What is free time during busy season anyway? I think I need to really slow down and give myself time…

BTW, do you know the latest on the new CA requirements? Last I heard they passed some kind of higher review.

    @Hustlin,

For starters you should change yoru profile picture the the SEAHAWKS!!!! then the exam might take it a little easier on you ;). Back to reality though, just study as much as possible, take the tests and hope for the best, you never know. Might be done and done with this exam in November. Then you can go to the Seahawks vs SF game in the bay and watch another Seahawk victory.

    REG: 80 (4/1/13)
    BEC: 87 (5/29/13)
    FAR: 82 (7/31/13)
    AUD: 63, 69, 86 (1/3/14)

You're aren't going to pass without doing MCQ. I've studied what most the high scorers on this site and the ones I met in reality, and I have notice that the people who averaged higher spent most of their time doing MCQ's over and over and over.

Sure, the meat and potatoes may be tax, but I was asked all sorts of questions about contract law, commercial paper, bankruptcy. Honestly, I don't think you can pass by using 90% of your time on tax.

    FAR 78
    REG 87
    BEC 78
    AUD 78
Passed all exams on first try! Good luck to everyone!

My understanding is if you pass in 2013 then you have additional time to get your ethics and experience done. If you don't pass then you are going to need the additional units. I've unfortunately resigned myself to doing the units. I'm short 19, I think I have 3 at a community college for a course I took during HS and I'm hoping that will count! Other than that… I'm thinking once I'm done with the exam I'll worry about the units.

Can you take the next 2 weeks off to devote to studying? If not, eeek, I think I'd postpone. Or maybe just go for it. If by chance you pass you'll be glad you did. I have little tax experience, so I wouldn't just go for it without studying unless my NTS was expiring.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

sieverd – get outta here with your Sea Chickens!!

To all else – I decided on Postponing the exam and only focusing on FAR this window. I'm not totally sure how many units I have (I'm dumb and didn't save any documentation after graduation) but I should be close since I went to a State University with a concentration in Accountancy, and had to take some extra courses here and there in my last year just to keep full-time status. It's painful to know I am not meeting my goal of being done, but I have a new hope that if I slow this train down I can finish early next year.

    Hustlin,

Sorry I never saw your reply until now. Yes if you pass by 12/31/13 you have time to apply under old pathways.

Just focus on what you need to do to pass. I am so proud of you not giving up. This is such a tough exam, especially those working full time and even more for the traveling auditors. I believe in you.

I am one of those California guys to that has just accepted I will take the extra units. I need 6 accounting units and 3 ethics units. I made myself feel better about it by looking at online courses that will help me prepare for the CPA exam. I am planning to get my ethics requirement from a business law class and 3 accounting units with a corporate tax class during my REG window while I study for the CPA. However I am not working.

By the way I am and always have been a Seahawk fan(not watching games tho to study)!

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
