I am graduating in a few weeks. I have an exam scheduled for May 31st (FAR) and I have not started studying yet. My theory for doing this was to just take an exam to see what its like so I can better study and if I pass on the first time, great, if not then I am not really out anything. However, I just found out that the scores will not be released until August which I did not know before. Do you guys think this is a smart idea or would it be a waste of time? I don’t really want to hop back and forth studying from exam to exam so I kind of want to study for one until I pass then move on to the next. But with the test score release dates out so far, I feel like that will be hard to do.

Also, I have purchased the Wiley CPA study material. I am still trying to figure out what the best plan of attack to studying is. Has anyone had success by just doing MC questions and skipping the lectures and videos?

If you have FAR scheduled for May 31st and haven't started studying yet, I am not sure it would be wise to take it as FAR has a ton of material, unless of course you plan on studying full time, but even then… Maybe push it back to July and then you won't have to wait as long? I don't know…I am leaving 3 full months to study for FAR but I have a full time job and a family….

I got a perfect score (75) doing 900 MCQ's on my phone for AUD. I did, however, read the text which took 8 hours. All in <2 weeks.

You can do FAR in under a month because I did. Unlike @anyatver, I did not have the responsibility of taking care of a family but I did work full time. You'll need to do closer to 1.5k-2.5k MCQ's and constantly quiz yourself on all topics to get your scores in all units as unified as possible.

Same with REG. BEC you may want to incorporate the text depending on how well you did with non-accounting business courses.

I think I am still going to take FAR on the 31st as I am not really out anything if I don't pass since this will be my first exam. Since I won't get the results back until August 17 I can just take the other exams in the mean time.

Well you would be out the NTS fee if you don't pass, but if paying to take it again isn't an issue then may as well just take it on the 31st and hope for the best.

It's not a bad idea if you don't mind blowing the test fee if you fail it. However you should start studying now to give yourself a shot to pass. I did this with BEC back in 2014. Long story but I signed up for it then changed jobs sometime after. I was working such a crazy schedule that I totally forgot about it till a couple days before. I took it cold and almost passed. There's nothing like a real life walk through the exam. Once I was ready to start studying again that experience took alot of the test day anxiety away bc I had already experienced it.
