And I’m EXTREMELY nervous, which I know is completely normal. π
I started off this process deciding that I was going to do self-study with the 2014 Wiley CPAexcel Exam Review Study Guides and the 2014 Wiley Test Bank. And then I got the study guides and that was the end of that decision, lol. I’m highly impressed by anyone who can discipline themselves into actually going through those entire books. I’m sure the MCQs in the study guides and the WTB will be very useful while reviewing, but I just can’t see actually trying to learn all of the concepts in an 18-month window by simply going through the books.
So now I’ve purchased the full 2014 Roger CPA Review and the full set of the 2014 NINJA Notes to use as my main materials while I supplement with the Wiley materials during my final reviews for each exam section. I’m a bit leery about not using much of the Wiley material since I know Roger used them heavily for 2013 and prior, but I’d really like to not have to if possible. Has anyone taken an exam yet this year using just the new Roger material? I’d love to hear your feedback on whether or not you think his lectures, books, and online MCQs and simulations are enough to adequately prepare for the exam or not.
I plan on using Roger’s 6 month study planner to take my exam sections and I’ve already scheduled BEC and REG around it. I’m starting my BEC studying with Roger on 01/28/14 and I’ve been going over the NINJA Notes in the meantime to get a feel for the material. I have at least a few days between each exam and the start of the Roger studying for the next exam, so that’s the time I plan on going through all of the NINJA Notes.
Anyway, I just thought I’d post this as an introductory post in my CPA exam journey and see if anyone else has used or is using a similar study plan or method. Before I even began the application process I was strongly considering taking the live Becker review course but I have a hard time sitting in a class for that long after working all day. I think Roger is energetic enough and has short enough lectures that I should have much better success with him. π
A little background info on me for anyone who’s interested: I just graduated with my M.S. in Accounting last month and I’ve worked my way up from administrative assistant to senior accountant at the CPA firm I’ve worked at for the last 4 years. It’s a small, local CPA firm that provides a bit of everything for clients and my boss is paying for all of my exam review materials as well as the exam itself, which is awesome for me. Both he and myself are very invested in me becoming a CPA and eventually a PFS so that we can provide those services to our clients as well. I’m really hoping I don’t disappoint as I’d be absolutely ecstatic to pass all of the sections on the first try. Here’s to hoping and putting the studying time in to make it happen!
Good luck to everyone else in their own CPA exam journey! π
