    I'm a big Spotify fan as of late…basically you pay $10 a month for unlimited music. It streams from an iPhone too.

    It's like Pandora, but with no commercials and you pick whatever song/album you want to listen to.

    @Jeff – I'm all over Spotify too. It's great!

    I never play music while studying though. I need no noise in order to concentrate. That's just me, though. I'm not saying it can't be done.

    When I was studying, I needed music to do MCQs or I died.

    I'm thinking about buying one of those $50 canceling noise headphones to study. I know I did listen to music during one of my hardest semesters in college and I actually did superb….

    I found that the only music that could keep me awake while studying for Audit was “Glee radio” on Pandora. Not my usual cup of tea, but it kept me awake and since I didn't really enjoy it, it didn't distract me from studying.

    “and since I didnt really enjoy it”

    That is such a Gleek thing to say. Nobody ever admits to liking Glee, but c'mon you typed it in to your Pandora radio. lol/

    Love Pandora and yes, I am a Gleek.

    Pandora.com – it's free internet radio and you can make your own stations.

    Gleeks: Fans of the TV show Glee

    I guess what I meant is… I couldn't listen to my normal music stations (punk rock, 90s rock, etc) because I got too distracted since I'd be rockin' out and singing and tapping my feet.. what can I say, I've got the beat. Glee radio was entertaining, but not so much that I'd lose focus on studying. 🙂

    When I study and do MCQs, total silence brought to you by Howard Leight Sleepers Earplugs! They're the best study tool in my belt aside from my review course.

    When I need motivation though, Eminem is my go to guy. Especially “Not Afraid” it's been my CPA anthem.

    Whatttt?? Spotify ? I need to get in on this immediately. I love Pandora, and for a long time I was using Grooveshark.com which was AMAZING, until, I think something happened with it and none of the songs will play. It's amazing how music can change your mood.

    I once read an article based on a research study that said that while studying for an exam, you should mimic the actual exam conditions, i.e. if you can't listen to music during the exam, you should study in silence. Otherwise you can throw yourself off come exam day.

    As much as I like music; and as much as I distrust a lot of those so-called “studies,” I don't have the courage to put this one to the test. So I study in silence.

    Boooorrrrinngggg. But I get by. When I finish studying I'll listen to music to help me relax and wind down.

    @tbstew – i agree with you. I learned that in one of my psych classes in college that you should mimic the testing environment and I believe it! music is too distracting for me. I tried listening to instrumental music but I've found i just need silence :/
