I'm not married, but I need to invade this thread for a bit. I hope no one minds.

As I posted in the singles thread, I'm planning to pick up dating again once I'm done with the exam, but online dating isn't for me, and I can't date men I work with. So ladies, where did you meet your husbands? Where should I look for a good guy?

Maybe we can start “Peanut & T-rex's Manhunting Thread” or “Peanut & T-rex on the Prowl” and convince Jeff to put a sticky on it.

I met my husband in a bar.

My boys started school Wednesday. I'm sure they will bring home those booklets of wrapping paper and other overpriced crap that we will be guilted into selling with in the next week.

I'm so ready to get REG done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first husband was dating a girl I knew in 10th grade. 2 years later she thought he and I would be good together and we started dating in our senior year of high school (1987). We married in 1989 and divorced in 2002.

Second husband? Happened to be my ex husband. We were spending a lot of time together due to the kids and because I needed help while I was in school and working F/T. We got re-married on April Fools Day of this year. What other day would you have a JP in your livingroom to officiate your wedding in front of your 2 kids?

    Twisted right?

I know I said I would stay away (ok, Soonerorlater, you caught me!!!!! I hope Friday went well for you and you took some time to hang with the family) But it is hard ! I am taking a quick 5 minute break.

@Trex-I met my hubby at a party. Not much help. Seems like most of my friends who are divorced meet guys thru online dating stuff. That seems to be popular. Does your office that you work for let you know when they have mixers with other business professionals? My old firm would have mixers with law firms, etc. It was a great way to network, but I also think it would be a great place to meet guys. Are you involved with any accounting societies in California? Just a thought. I will ask my nephew who lives in L.A. what he thinks. He is probably your age and is single……

@Mia–what a great story!!!! congrats on the nuptials.

Okay, bars, parties, professional mixers, accounting societies, friends' exes (just kidding), and ex-husbands! Got it. Where else?

@mla, That IS a great story! Wow! You two must be destined to be together. Congrats! 🙂

@yankee, I'm actually in TX, so the LA nephew is out unless he's open to relocating to TX. We don't have any work mixers, but I may get involved with some local accounting/business organizations. That's a great idea!

Great story mla. You definitely were meant to be.

T-rex – Sorry, but I'm of no help. I met my husband in high school. I asked him out on Sadie Hawkins Day my sophomore year because my best friend wanted to go out with his best friend and she wanted me along for moral support. We didn't go on another date for over 2 years but started up again right before graduation and have been together ever since.

I would have agree with you on online dating until a couple of years ago. My cousin met someone on an online dating site, and they got married last summer. She's 45, and he's 4-5 years older. It was the first marriage for both of them, and they're really happy.

Where in TX are you? Maybe I can come up with someone for you.

    T-Rex,

I love, love, LOVE Austin. As a matter of fact, one of my best friends from Clemson is living there now. He just got separated… he's one of the coolest guys I know. I probably should have married him – LOL.

Thanks, Allyson! I noted down your email address. You might want to delete it from the post if it's not too late to do so, unless you don't mind it being posted.

Yes, Austin is a wonderful city! It's gotta be one of the best cities in the country!

Good luck on Tuesday with REG!
