    @mamabear I'm cracking up right now!! Haha I think you're 100% on target with that.

    You can add that to everything else I've learned during this last year of studying for the CPA. 😉 Men really aren't all that complex. They'll forgive almost anything (neglect, dirty dishes, laundry not done, etc) if you give them that. At least you don't have kids yet–that makes it a little bit harder to work around. I too think studying would have been easier single, but my husband has done a wonderful job around the house while I go through this process. If I were single I would have to do my own laundry, cook for myself, etc AND study. In addition to that, most of the single people I know taking this exam can't seem to get it together enough to stay focused and get it done. They have too many other distractions and don't want to give up their life to study. It's easier for us to do that because we know there is someone here supporting our goals and pushing us because they know it's what we want. Single people have to find the motivation all on their own.

    @mamabear and @Amanda – You are exactly right. I've been married for 9 months now and so we are still in the newlywed stage. But thankfully my husband has exams for work he has to study for throughout the year so he knows exactly what I am going through. I can say I have taken some breaks from studying to “jump him”….and then he is satisfied, lol! And I can concentrate more on studying.

    However we eat supper every night together and that gives us the chance to catch up for the day. We take turns cooking dinner and he helps clean around house, joint effort so it doesn't take as long.

    I believe Jeff's survival guide actually touches on this. I've been married for about three weeks. I have to be sure to make time for my wife regularly. She has been great through this whole thing. She took over cooking, which was always my job, so I could get more studying in. I'll say “jumping each other” definitely helps with studying. You are much more relaxed and able to concentrate.

    This is going to sound horrible but once when my husband was throwing strong hints for “play-time”, I asked could we play in a “study friendly position”. I was only half-joking … lol

    Mamabear has a point. 🙂 Coming from a male point of view in regards to studying and “play-time”, the situation really isn't much different to be honest. I've gotten that “look”, then she got the “I have to study look” back, then I got the look again…Then I went back to study later. 😀

    @Skynet:

    …ummmmmm NO! You might as well open the door and welcome infidelity right on into your marriage…getting your freak on is a staple to a man, as Mamabear said. Taking that away = ending your marriage at a much faster pace than any amount of studying.

    Besides…didn't Amanda say her boo felt NEGLECTED?? Pretty sure you shouldn't respond with more neglect…

    @CPA4birthday–Don't take Skynet seriously. I can't rember a single post he's made that wasn't for shock value. 🙂 Definitely don't cut the spouse off. 🙂

    As much as I like the sound of Jeff's voice and the notes he's made, I'd rather snuggle with the wife than with the Ninja Notes or my Wiley Text.

    No offense Jeff.

    As a man (and father), mama bear is right. We aren't difficult creatures. Give us 3.7 seconds of fun time, and we're good for at least another day or two.

    Lol this is hilarious. I am glad I am not the only one who is recently married and sometimes the hubby feels neglected…and YES, SEXY TIME is a MUST!!!!!!!!! not 24/7 everyday or else no studying would get done but it definitely helps to take MY mind off of BECKER and leases liabilities financial statements, etc. 🙂 I've only been married for almost 6 months now and I started studying like 2 weeks after we got back from Honeymoon and started living together for the FIRST time….i mean first time for everything if you know what i mean. I learned to manage my schedule better and pay some attention to him. 🙂 I will say I was blessed to be able not to work and study at the same time so i give MAJOR GIGANTIC props to those who work, kids/husband, and study. You guys are AMAZING

    I definitely wish I was one of those people who got all 4 exams done in 4 months, but unfortunately LIFE (being a newlywed, stress, adjusting to newlywed life and cpa exam study life, as well as starting a job with a Big4 which I am very happy about) got in the way, just happy that I am passing period!!

    “First time for everything”. That is impressive! My husband and I dated for 1.5 years before we lived together, lived together for 2 years before we got engaged, were engaged for 3.5 years before we got married, and were married for 2 years before we started having kids. Clearly, we took baby steps. I can't imagine doing all of that at once, in addition to the “you know what I mean” for the first time. Props to you for waiting!! I hope my daughters follow the same path you did. 🙂 That is awesome!

    Mamabear THANK YOU! 🙂 We waited a year and 9 months (he proposed after 1 year and a month, we got married 8 months later) It was hard to wait but now I am so thankful I did!! I couldn't imagine doing it differently haha Congratulations on your baby girl. I definitely want to wait a good 5 years now though, enjoy our married life first for sure. We both agreed to waiting so that was definitely helpful. If one wants to wait but the other doesn't, then it gets that much harder ha
