    I met my husband at a bar as well. A friend of my husband's was dating a friend of mine at the time. I met his friend first, then we talked about meeting up again with my husband and his friends. At the time I wasn't even interested in dating,meeting and hanging out sure, but no dating. I just called off my wedding with my ex at the time. Well that was the summer of 1999. We started dating in the fall. We were married in Jan 2004 and had our first daughter in June of 2004.

    Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....

    @mla: I love your story!

    I met my husband back in 1998 in an AOL chatroom (remember those?!). I was 14 and really just playing around on the computer with my friends and AOL chatrooms were about the coolest thing to do online back then. He and I started talking a lot and realized we lived 3 miles apart, so we decided to meet. It has been true love ever since! 8 years of dating and almost 6 years of marriage has gone by in a flash! He is my best friend 🙂

    I could never tell people how we met back then because meeting people online was a taboo thing then, especially for a 14 year old. It was never my intention to meet someone that way, but random chance made it happen and I wouldn't change it for anything!

    Well I was just checking the blog and came into this and saw everyone talking about how they met their life partners. I would like to tell mine. I am from India and there most of them get arranged marriages and so was mine. But I feel mine is little different from others because my husband came to see me and fell madly in love with me (except him everyone tells that to me and I know too he said i love u in first phone conversation which was very funny because both of them realise to say that was too early but hey he couldnt hide his emotions) and he told to his family he dont want to see anymore girls but me and if I reject him he will go USA without marraige. I rejected him because I never want to leave my home town but some where in my heart I cant stop thinking about him. I truly beleave that marraiges are made in heaven beacuse even though I rejected the proposal before we meet and said later no after we met, I used to get vibrations or some thing exciting in my heart when i saw him or some one talk about him. My aunt convinced me(she was the one who bought proposal) saying that they still dont know about my rejection and still waiting for my reply) so I decided to meet him again and we got a chance to talk alone for very few minutes and I dont know when he started talking to me, I could'nt understand a word because his was american accent and all i could see was very dark handsome guy having conversation with a smile and fell in love with him unknowingly (his smile is the first thing I love about him). I said yes to our marraige and we got marreid in 15 days after we met for the first time(I know surprising right but in that 15 days I felt I know him from many years). after getting married and came here I was affraid if he is not same guy after coming here, i was so wrong… we both married almost 10 yrs and still have the same love for each other. and forgot to say when I saw his 6 pack body i was like oh my goddddddddd how come such a handsome guy fell in love with me and hey I get complements too that I look Ii am in my 20's and (some times I used to get kids menu when i go to restaurants which is too much i say) anyways want to say very very very happily married and thank god for giviing him and 2 little sweet kids for us.

    Right now he is with His parents and our kids (2 and 4yrs old boys) due to some emergency in India and I am here to finish my last exam and then after my exam going to India for a long vacation…..Miss my family like helllllll…My younger one who is 2yrs old never used to live a single day without me and now its been almost 15 days I am here and he did not remember me at all which makes me very angry at the same time feel good that he is happy there unlike crying for me if not I couldnt concentrate on my studies…

    @ soon – well just think after your exam, like you said you'll be on vacation with your family. That's my plan too!! My husband and I scheduled a camping trip the day after my FAR exam. I can't wait, it's just the way I need to end my studies. With some R&R. Good Luck!!

    Ugh, this is so tough being married with a family. I'm relatively new here, but I'm glad this particular sub-forum was created, because it's definitely giving me the motivation to go that extra mile (my first exam, BEC, is in one week).

    I'm 30, married for 4 years, have a 1.5 year old daughter and another on the way this January. I spent most of my time working in a regulatory role in biotech, but a few years ago realized I didn't want to call it a career, so went back to school for accounting. I just graduated earlier this year. Unfortunately couldn't find a job in public, but took a position as a portfolio accounting analyst for a major investor management services firm. I've been there for about 6 months, still not sure if I really like it, as my current job function really has nothing to do with traditional accounting. And the pay is substantially lower than an entry-level public accounting position, which is surprising given our industry and responsibilities. Let's just say I'm keeping my options open.

    But like all of you, I've been devoting all my spare time to studying for the exams, at the expense of my family. It really sucks sometimes (ok, it sucks all the time). I get off work, eat dinner with the wife and daughter, and then head down to the basement until it's time for bed. Two months into it, and I'm really starting to feel burnt out, as I'm sure my wife is with her increased responsibility for watching our daughter. I feel like I'm under even more pressure, because our current state requirements to sit for the exam are an undergraduate degree. That changes in 2012, so I'm studying like crazy to try to pass at least one exam by the end of year, if I don't…so long CPA! With another kid on the way, there's no way I could go back to school for several years for a graduate degree and then try to get my CPA. Ugh!

    REG: Passed
    FAR: Passed

    @scaredtheory – You might want to look into the undergard to grad changes in your state. In August of 2009, New York State changed that requirement and I only have a undergaduate degree in accounting. Because I already had my application in for my license they grandfathered me into the change. In otherwords, I didn't have to go back to get my graduate degree. Just a little something to look into. I think I found that out by looking in the Department of Education of NYS. Look into your state's Dept.

    One would think with the husband at class today for 8 hours I would be 100% focused but I can't seem to get myself there. I have BEC next Saturday and all I can think about is maybe moving it to October 1st. I am in panic mode because I still haven't done all the multiple choice once yet and wonder if I am even going to be able to by Saturday! My issue is that my audit credit will expire November 30 and I still have three to go. Well I have taken REG just waiting on that score so two more to actually take. My plan was BEC this month so that way I can really focus on FAR for November. But now I am worried about failing BEC. Any thoughts or suggestions? My gut tells me to just keep working the MCQs and take it as originally planned but my nerves say move it but I think that is just torture! Sorry had to vent for a minute 🙂

    I would say just take it. You may be more prepared than you think. Keep plugging away at MCQs. What is there to lose? If you pass it you're done, if you don't you still have next window to retake it before your Audit credit expires.

    I think it is more the fear of this being my 4th stab at BEC and I don't feel ready. I pretty much know I will lose Audit because I just can't see myself passing REG, BEC, and FAR by November 30th. I mean its doable but I am being a pessimist right now for some reason which isn't my normal self. I just know BEC is not as easy as it seems. Good luck on FAR hope your nerves aren't taking over like mine!

    Don't let the fear get the best of you. I had to take 3 parts this window cause I have a BEC credit that's due to expire at the end of September.

    Thanks for understanding Jomarie! I just hate that feeling when I have spent 7 hours of my day so far with my books but don't feel like I put a dent in the material. Although I did complete about 250 multiple choice questions so I guess that is good! I am just going to keep plugging along and hope that I get a decent exam with my stronger topics more heavily tested.. wishful thinking 😉 When you have been cramming to get three in in a window did you bother to rewrite your notes? I was debating on rewriting the NINJA guide for BEC but at this point I am thinking strictly MCQs and maybe making the NINJA guide my bed time reading material for the week. Good luck studying! I am rooting for you!!
