Macc vs. CPA Exam

I’m taking a break from school and taking the CPA Exam in 2012. My reasoning is that working full time, continuing w/ my Macc and trying to study for the exam will not work. Am I making the right move? I plan to resume in 2013 and finish it that same year.

Each person is different, but in my opinion, I would try and knock it out now when the material is fresh in your mind. It WILL be hard to get motivated to study in a year from now.

    FAR- 75
    REG- 82
BEC- 73, 79!! Its over. Am I dreaming?
    AUD- 74, 74, 88

I don't think there is a one sized fits all answer to that. But then again, I did the CPA exam while working full time and in school for my Masters.

Depending on what classes you have left to take I might alternate. For example if an Auditing class is required take that first then take the AUD portion of the exam. If you have to take business law take that then take REG, etc.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I'm in a similar boat. Working full time, finishing MAcc and taking the exam. If you are more than halfway through the MAcc program, I'd stay with it. Studying for the exam while working and taking a class or 2 is doable. I just took FAR last wednesday while taking Seminar in Financial Accounting. I only have one more class in the spring and hopefully one more part of the exam (AUD). My advice is to lighten the load to one maybe 2 classes while studying though. Good luck

    REG - 7/23/11 - 87
    BEC - 8/30/11 - 78
    FAR - 11/23/11 - 89
    AUD - 1/14/12 - 88
