the MCQs were definitely doable, I studied to the point of being able to have a reasonable answer for 80% of them but my test was EXTREMELY tricky and not straight forward at all. Even the first testlet was tricky. Someone taking this exam would have had to know every single nuance about the sections to get these answers correct.

First testlet was pretty straight forward. Took me about 25 minutes.

Second testlet was medium except for a few questions out of left field. The questions didn’t get longer but more geared towards smaller topics. Not sure what they were asking for a few of them.

Third testlet was freaking stupid. I remember struggling with this one.

SIMs were a joke as usual (not in a good way)

@MrNormalGuy – I didn't assume anything; I inferred from your post that you were a “genius”. One accepted definition of the word “genius” is “a person having an extraordinarily high intelligence rating on a psychological test…”, which you purported to have. We can't go by your definition of a “genius” when we aren't familiar with your definition. My definition of a cat could actually be a moose, but how the hell could you possibly know what my meth-addict definition was?

Also, it's fine that you don't write with perfect grammar; I just found it ironic that you were touting your superior intellect through a written medium with the grammatical prowess of a 6-year old. I'm sure I make my share of grammatical mistakes too because I'm definitely not perfect, but then again, I wasn't the one who claimed to have extraordinary intelligence.

You went on an interesting tangent about Albert Einstein…I guess I don't really have an opinion one way or the other about Einstein's level of genius, however, I think fathering the theory of relativity puts you pretty high up on the list (although, I'm sure you already had a grasp on that by age 4!). Then again, if we're using your definition of genius, maybe it doesn't.

But let's all just agree that you're the brightest crayon in this virtual box and move on. I'm sure you're super smart, Mr Normal Guy. I'm sorry you struggle with the CPA exam; I doubt it has any bearing on your massive IQ. Meanwhile, the rest of us simpletons will just mosey about our inconsequential existences while you use your mental endowment to completely revamp the face of nuclear physics. Perhaps you can build a rocket ship, blast off to Mars, and use Alien saliva to cure hubris; we'll dub you test subject 0.

Final point: I <3 Justin Timberlake

I think we can all agree that passing the CPA exam means only ONE thing for certain…you're good at passing the CPA exam!

One of my prior managers in the Big 4 always used to say.. “I know plenty of idiots that passed the CPA exam.” I think this is true to an extent. The exam is a gauge of commitment and basic competency and is in no way a gauge of intelligence or success. Indeed, there may be a correlation between intelligence and passing the CPA exam. However, the exams are not designed to test intelligence or your ability to succeed; further, it would be baseless to assume that the exam could accurately measure either factor as this is not the purpose of the test.

To me, intelligence and success are more easily measurable by what the CPA does AFTER he/she passes 🙂

whatkey – yes…I must agree with you in totality. And let me scream Amen too.

    Rocketship….Dah dah dah DRINK!

    And BaseballCPA….

I was going to go to sleep but I'm not sure if I passed today and so I'm already studying again. About you're grammar, you have already improperly used the semicolon. I was also sure you would respond with a response as toxic as I am tired….so fine here it goes…

“Also, it's fine that you don't write with perfect grammar; I just found it ironic that you were touting your superior intellect through a written medium with the grammatical prowess of a 6-year old.”

These two ideas are actually capable of being written in one complete and more concise sentence with a conjunction – although you haven't broken any rules, you have violated an element of style highlighted in shrunk and white. In other words, you write like a seventh grader. Congratulations. That's better than most of Americans, but still worse than most people you probably know in real life – few and far none.

Let me elaborate now on what your use of diction, grammar, and bravado indicates about you psychologically….

The fact that you used a semicolon shows you lack style and are “actually” “quite” redundant in your delivery through “probably” any medium. I'm not trying to be ironic here by also being redundant. I'm just being sarcastic. Notice how I chose to write two sentences instead of using a semi colon like this….

“I'm not trying to be ironic here by also being redundant; I'm just being sarcastic.”

In this way my ego does not exceed recommended dosages. Thus far, yours has overdosed.

Regarding any braggadocio you seem to claim is involved in my former posts, please, refrain from seeing things on the wall that are not there. I'm reminded of the shinning and redrum except with an image of you staring at the wall in your moms bathroom with a pacifier and a bib.

Finally, I find it interesting how you think the makers of IQ test I took consider you part of their tribe. You say “we” as if you're golfing buddies with the people who have defined genius in the dictionary or according to the standards on a test, but I assure you, that you do not fit the psychological profile of such a person. You may be a schizoid…or you may be a narcissist. This much is certain. But are you cool? Maybe.

Was Andy Kaufman cool? For a while. Is Jar Jar from star wars cool? Not even for a minute.

All I really have to say now is this. I don't mean to hurt your feelings young nub nugget…so take this with a grain of salt. The last thing I need is a monkey wrench thrown into the karma machine. I'm just as much of a grog sniffer as you are, except I don't gyrate my hips and scream, “Giggity! Giggiy!” like you when I win an argument on a message board.

    Cheers…

    Drink!

I'm a huge fan of the semicolon; using a semicolon to connect two closely related independent clauses is actually grammatically correct. 🙂 The Shinning? I'll have to catch that one!

I hope your 36 on the ACT carries some weight with the AICPA. Maybe they'll allow you to bypass taking the exams if you use some jedi mind tricks on them. Just kidding. But come on, how awesome would life be if you could just manipulate people's minds. I think we can all safely say that I would be drawn towards the dark side.

I still feel like we're going around in circles here, Mr. Normal Guy. I admitted that I'm FAAAAAAAR from perfect, but again, I'm not the one who was touting his intellectual accomplishments to the forum. I found the post ironical, so I made a sarcastic comment. In all honesty, I like you! You're feisty and your arguments are logical. Welcome to my good graces (I know how important that must be to you!).

I don't think I used “we” in the context of lumping myself in with the creators of IQ tests, so that's an interesting point, but I'm sure they're incredible golfers. When I said “we”, I was referring to the forum community. Yes, I am an admittedly huge narcissist, possible schizoid, and I've cut back sucking on my pacifier and wearing my bib to the weekends. The diaper, however, never comes off!

So how many times have you taken the exam so far? Or is this your first attempt? I inferred that you had taken it multiple times because you said you “struggled” with it, but maybe I misunderstood.

    Love,

    Your Narcissistic Jar-Jar Binks wannabe

    P.S. GIGGITY! *gyrates hips suggestively*

Awesome. I dub and christen this a friendship. I've taken reg three times and that's all. I've had some problems with it; never really took anything beyond tax 101 in college. I think the other ones will be easier for me because I've seen the material before. We shall see.

I want to give you a hug crafty guy!

Deal! I took your use of the semicolon to be a metaphorical extension of the olive branch. Let me just say…I'm touched! (not sarcasm) Haha I think we'll get along juuuust fine on here, my friend. Consecutive vowels used to emphasize a word are also acceptable 🙂

Hmm, REG is a tricky bastard. Tax was one of my weakest subjects in school and I only JUST passed with a 78. I think you'll do fine on the other sections, because REG is definitely the hardest (IMO). Best of luck to you though, I hope you passed it.

Did you/Do you ever watch the show “Entourage”? “Let's hug it out!” haha. Well, now that I've made myself a new friend, I'm off to bed. Take care!
