the MCQs were definitely doable, I studied to the point of being able to have a reasonable answer for 80% of them but my test was EXTREMELY tricky and not straight forward at all. Even the first testlet was tricky. Someone taking this exam would have had to know every single nuance about the sections to get these answers correct.

First testlet was pretty straight forward. Took me about 25 minutes.

Second testlet was medium except for a few questions out of left field. The questions didn’t get longer but more geared towards smaller topics. Not sure what they were asking for a few of them.

Third testlet was freaking stupid. I remember struggling with this one.

SIMs were a joke as usual (not in a good way)

in retrospect, mini's first post is fine and a forum is fair game for posts like that (even if I didn't ask for it) but mini has accused me constantly of going in unprepared and trying to put my blame on other things because I called becker garbage (which it is)

I'm moving on to FAR. I'll be back sometime in May when scores are released

I can't believe I just wasted 15 minutes reading this thread.

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!
    BEC - 81 (4x)

It's completely normal to see up to 4 questions “completely out of left field.” They have questions they are testing too for future exam periods. If you studied hard and still didn't know where they got some questions than that likely is a question being tested.

    Bec 4/11/11 91
    Aud 7/11/11 75
    Reg 8/31/11 80
    Far 5/24/11 86
    Ethics - 98

@goodluck- What's wrong with someone telling you that you were unprepared? Do you want Mini to support you in your “Becker is garbage” claim? 99.9% of the time people fail because they were unprepared. Yes I failed FAR four times, REG two times, and AUD once all because I was unprepared each and every one of those times. The CPA exam has a 45% pass rate, so this is not an easy test to fully prepare for. If you do not put your heart and soul into this, you will be unprepared. Trust me. Mini is right here. If you keep yelling at him and continue blaming review courses and the AICPA for your failures, then it's going to be a lot harder to get through this. Take responsibility and learn from your mistakes. Ok, you got left field questions and crazy Sims on your exam. If you failed, think of ways you can study so that next time, you can tackle those left field questions. Perhaps there are some concepts you are not fully grasping.

If you go back and read goodluck's initial post, I don't think he was saying anything to provoke anyone. He was just stating his experience with th exam. Sometimes the SIMS do seem like a joke! Even though I was prepared for the exam, taking a whole week of my vacation time to study 8-10 hours a day, I had some very detailed SIMS. The kind where you are just on the tip of knowing the answer and toying between two thoughts – then you just have to go with something and hope your instincts are right. If I had chosen a different thought a couple of times, maybe I wouldn't have gotten a 74 on my last exam more than two years into this.

For someone to share their view of the exam and immediately be told they must have been “unprepared” is a bit. Sometimes, you've done all you can do to prepare, but it just isn't enough. You have to pick up, regroup and try again. If you ask me, this whole process feels like a joke sometime! We are all being violated by the CPA exam. ha!

Good luck @goodluck 😉 perhaps you did better than you thought.

First time reading this thread – it stayed near the top so I figured it must be a good one.

Should have known there was some drama keeping it buoyant.

You can get 4 reasonable tabs and 2 crazy tabs that wreck your confidence walking out of the exam and it taints your entire exam experience. You can rock the MCQs – except for a few pesky ones that you couldn't figure out and they ate at you the entire exam and during the weeks leading up to score release.

Let's show each other a little grace here.

Look, @goodluck and I have some history. I take a slightly different tone with him/her than I do with most other posters. @goodluck constantly misleads, exaggerates, and shifts blame. Therefore, I call him/her out on his/her B.S. maybe a little more often than I would another poster. It's that simple.

There is NO WAY you can go into an exam feeling prepared and walk away feeling that the SIMS were “a joke.” A number of posts later, @goodluck had to explain that he was exaggerating and, in actuality, 4 of the 6 SIMS were actually “reasonable”. I dont understand why he said the SIMS were a “joke” if they were really reasonable. What is the point in that? This is not the first time @goodluck has said something misleading and it probably wont be the last. I will continue to call B.S. when I smell it.

“No one can accuse me of going into prometric “unprepared” as I have already passed two with scores in the 80s and know what it takes, so all self-righteous holier than thou patrons of a71 (mini, baseballcpa, etc) can shut it.”

Unbelievable. I can elicit a response from someone without even reading the thread! I'm getting good! You know, it's funny, I have tried so hard to be a lot nicer on this forum than I have in the past, so I'm going to sidestep this landmine almost entirely. Before I do, however, a couple of things:

    1) @Goodluck — dude, you either exaggerate for attention or you backpedal because you feel like an idiot, but with every post you seem to eat your own words…”oh wait, that's not what I meant” “no, you misunderstood, what I meant was that Becker was 95% at fault, the AICPA was 4%, and 1% my fault…I didn't say it wasn't my fault at all!”. But again, I don't care, I'm not getting drawn into this…I hope you did exaggerate and you end up passing with a 99.

    2) @Mini — I thought your MCQ was on point lmao…it was obviously over the line but that's probably the only way we operate…it had to be said!

    3) @Veronica — Yes, monumental waste of time in the grand scheme of things, but you have to think of it like a soap opera…soap operas/tv in general is a total waste of time right? But the drama keeps you sucked in!! Haha it's like a bad car wreck, you can't look away. Whenever I stumble upon a controversial thread (or ignite the fire myself), I always see some dramatic scene from a soap opera play out lol “What do you MEAN my husband is really my brother?? DUN DUN DUUUUUUNNNNN” haha

@Baseball – so true. And by the way, I think you're doing a pretty good job at being a little more thoughful these days. I read a good quote that I decided to post by my desk… maybe so one of my managers would read and consider it, maybe not…. 😉

“The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.” – Theodore Roosevelt

The older I get, the more I realize the truth in that.

    FAR - 79 (2x)

I remember goodluck said this to me once…

“No one said becoming a CPA was easy. In fact, I think these tests should be harder because CPAs are respected and relied upon to make difficult decisions (often with heavy consequences) “

    https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/took-reg-today-it-was-a-nightmare/page/2

Now, based on the recent posts I'm reading, I'm thinking he/she wishes the CPA exam were easier….

@CPAMan that was a good thread! I wish some of those people were still around! There was a different vibe to the discussions back then.

@jenuno – Where has your A71 wifey (Peanut) been the last few days? Also, can you elaborate on the “different vibe” of discussions back then?
