the MCQs were definitely doable, I studied to the point of being able to have a reasonable answer for 80% of them but my test was EXTREMELY tricky and not straight forward at all. Even the first testlet was tricky. Someone taking this exam would have had to know every single nuance about the sections to get these answers correct.

First testlet was pretty straight forward. Took me about 25 minutes.

Second testlet was medium except for a few questions out of left field. The questions didn’t get longer but more geared towards smaller topics. Not sure what they were asking for a few of them.

Third testlet was freaking stupid. I remember struggling with this one.

SIMs were a joke as usual (not in a good way)

Well your testlets got harder, so you may have done better than expected. All you need is 7 more points from last time. That's it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

@cpa222- Yeah, there will always be surprises on these REG exams. My last REG exam was full of surprises and I even got a couple of questions on topics that were NOT outlined in the CSO. I know because I was thinking to myself, “Should I study this topic? It's not in the CSO nor is it in my review book.” So I was like, nah they're not going to test it. Sure enough, I got a question on it. Of course, it may have been pretest. Who knows? But all I know is that my entire REG exam last time was a complete surprise, yet I managed to pass somehow. I thought REG was the one exam where it was a lot harder than I expected. I lucked out and passed it after three attempts, but I don't know think I could do it again.

goodluck may have hit it off. We don't know. We'll just have to wait and see….

BTW- Mini has passed all 4 parts while you guys haven't. It would behoove you guys to listen to him. It's advice you don't want to hear, but trust me when I say that he's trying to help. He's giving constructive criticism.

    Mini is blunt lol

Sometimes people need to hear what he has to say.

I've been on A71 for awhile now and have learned this:

You want to tick Mini off?

    1. Don't take responsibility for not being prepared on test day (blame your review, the AICPA, the PH balance in the water, the moody Prometric workers, etc)

    2. Half-a**ed studying

    3. Take short-cuts while studying and still expect to pass

This dude worked really hard to pass these exams all on the first attempt, while working and raising a family. The fact that he's still around this forum shows how much the CPA cert means to him. I encourage all of those who get offended by his comments to grow some thick skin… it's a jungle out there in the accounting world.

    we should be kind

we are all not created equal

i have two kids, one reads something once and gets exactly what it is

the other reads it three times and is still unsure, same exact educational backgrounds

be grateful and humble if you get to pass 1st try, yes with hard work, you have great abilities

but there are others that have worked just as hard but need more time, and that is just how we were born

there's a difference between being blunt and just being a tool. I can't be expected to remember 10,000 lines of information perfectly and then be expected to regurgitate it in a matter of minutes. That is why a passing score is a 75 and not a 99. My issue comes with how in-depth these SIMs go, to the point of being ludicrous in the grand ethos of these exams.

No one can accuse me of going into prometric “unprepared” as I have already passed two with scores in the 80s and know what it takes, so all self-righteous holier than thou patrons of a71 (mini, baseballcpa, etc) can shut it. They just make themselves look incredibly desperate for attention.

Again, my issue is with the SIMs. I found the MCQ to be very fair.

Well, it's easy to blame the AICPA because they like to give questions on topics you most likely overlooked. They don't give a lot of questions on the bigger, more important topics. But then again, if they did that, then a lot of people would pass, which may not necessarily be a good thing.

“This dude worked really hard to pass these exams all on the first attempt”……

So this gives you the right to make snap judgements about someone from a four or five sentence post and be rude for no other reason than you think you have the right to be? I didn't have a problem with the initial response, it was the rest that was over the top.

It kind of makes me wonder if he isn't 5'3″ tall……

No, it's just that he knows what needs to be done to pass. He worked very hard to pass the exams. When he sees people that put in half the work he did and start blaming review courses and the AICPA for the failing grade they got, he tries to give them a wake up call and let them know that they need to work harder. I see nothing wrong with Mini's posts. He's telling people what they NEED to hear.

You can keep getting 50s and 60s on the exam over and over. If all people are going to do is say, “Aw! You can go it. You'll pass next time” then what good is that going to do? Mini never said to people that they're worthless and can't do this. If he said that, then I can see why you people would get angry. What he's trying to do is give constructive criticisms to people in order to help them pass next time.

I've seen a bunch like him on just about ever forum around…..there's one tailored towards tax and sheesh, you should see the posts out there. Someone who runs around chest thumping and feeling like they can say anything they want to anyone because of reason X, Y, or Z.

I'm not necessarily arguing with what he's saying, I'm just saying that he can use a tremendous amount of tact when saying it. I agree someone should study hard and use good materials but just because someone flops a bad SIM doesn't mean they weren't prepared.

I don't really care one way or the other. It's just quite unnecessary for the forum troll to mistreat people. JMHO.

I still don't see how anyone has been “mistreated” here. There were some pretty offenssive comments made by the OP that were deleted by Kricket. So I don't think you're opining on a complete story here.

I understand people come here for support, but REAL support is not telling people what they want to hear. Plus, the OP and Mini have kind of a background of bickering lol

Well that's the part I apparently didn't see…..didn't know about the editing. Well then I stand corrected Mini, apologies for thinking you were out of line.

Now for the Original Poster….let me tell you something….no just kidding.

    #362691

    the edited post in question came immediately after this comment by mini;

“If you happen to fail, and I hope you dont, will it be:

    A) Becker's fault

    B) Wiley's fault

    C) Your fault

    D) AICPA's fault

You mentioned you are better with multiple choice, so I thought I would throw you a zinger. “

Don't put the blame on my inappropriate comment as it came well after everything

After re-reading mini's first post, I admit my attack on his comment was unwarranted. Let's move on. I don't want to study for this crap again.

@jeuno01 – for me there is a difference between sharing and asking for “constructive” criticism. I see that someone asking for a critique of performance and study methods is different than someone who just wants to share their results and their story. In that it feels more like blame than support to get “constructivized” when not expecting it. Not being a total brain myself I'm very glad of both the encouragement to keep going and the admonishment to know my stuff.

I appreciate that folks are trying to do their best by others most of the time.
