We’re all thinking it, I said it…. what do aspiring CPAs actually do for fun??

-I like to read, I’m big into fantasy novels but I read almost anything. This is the one thing I make sure to do every night despite my studying schedule

-I’m a gamer, I rarely get time to play anymore but I’m a pretty hardcore Modern Warfare player, and I dabble in some Minecraft and Starcraft 2 when the mood takes me.

-Board Games, another thing I wish I had time for. I’m not talking the boring Monopoly and Scrabble type games either. I play mostly Euro games like Caylus and Steam, and I’m a huge fan of Cosmic Encounter. I’m a bit of a board game geek.

-I’m also quite the home poker player when I’m not so low on funds.

-Couple any of those interests with some craft beer and I’m a happy guy

So what about you guys? I know we’re all busy, but there’s always those things we daydream about doing after we’re done with all this studying!

I like to run and workout in general. I would also like to get back into reading leisurely.

In my mind, it is just a job. It annoys me very much when people make assumptions about us as CPAs. For instance, I am a collegiate level athlete who does photo shoots on the side. Love to go out clubbing, drinks, extreme sports. Not trying to blow smoke here, but I am sure many of you can relate to the designation that people give us as boring, nerdy pencil pushers. Gets on my nerves after a while.

@Youngbizman, I completely agree. I constantly “surprise” people when they find out that I have a pretty good sense of humor and that I'm sarcastic. As if a personality and the ability to tell a non-accounting joke was inherently incompatible with an accountant.

I also think of it as just a job. For fun, I like to go out at night a lot, I also like working on cars and stuff around the house. Play/watch sports, etc…
