My drivers license last name is hyphenated but I never use it the first part of it and did not put it on my NTS. I have no secondary form of ID with my hyphenated last name. Is this going to be a problem when I go to sit?

I also have a hyphenated name, and I also only use one of the names commonly. For my NTS I used my full name because the rules say that the ID must match the NTS exactly. I would contact your state board or NASBA to see if you can get your NTS reissued in your full legal name. You will probably also need to contact Prometric so they can associate your appointment with your new NTS. You don't want to be turned away on exam day, better to get ahead of it now.

At my Prometric, I brought like 5 forms of ID just in case… they only checked my license! My middle name isn't included on my NTS but it is on my license. I think it just truly depends who's working. I'll still bring my 4-5 forms with for each exam.

When I got married and changed my last name on my drivers license, I did not change my name on the NTS. Came test day, I was rejected and forfeited my fees and hours of studying. Called NASBA because I was distraught that prometrics turned me down and they showed no sympathy. They told me, the requirement was on the NTS in bold letters and that I should have read it. And indeed it was in BOLD LETTERS. I would contact your state board and get it changed ASAP. The turn around is pretty quick so if your exam is more than two weeks away, you should be good to go. Good luck!!

Agree with samdiego that it depends on who is working but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Again, good luck!

I will warn you. Make sure you send in your request to change your name ASAP. I got married in December, sent the email to NASBA on January 4th including my new ID and marriage certificate, they responded on the 7th saying my name was changed in the system… it's not. It still has my old last name. I've emailed them back twice since then, and they aren't responding anymore. It looks like I'm going to have to call. It's just frustrating when it takes so long and you need your name updated for the NTS.
