I wanted to post my review of the Lambers CPA review materials. To start this rant off, I want to say that overall it was effective as I passed all four parts on the first attempt. However, there were many headaches along the way.

1. There are more typos in the material than I can count, but I can deal with those as I could generally determine what they meant.

2. There are times when the video shows you the solution to a MC question one way, but the answer at the back of the chapter contradicts it. Trying to learn a concept when you don’t know how to properly apply it is very annoying.

3. The test prep software is full of errors as well; some provide answers that don’t line up with the data in the problem (i.e. off by $50); some give you an answer but the explanation contradicts it; and some give you an answer and explanation that are just flat out wrong.

The last thing I wanted to deal with when cramming for these exams was trying to decipher what they meant, or determine what was actually correct. As you all know, stress levels are elevated enough without having to deal with quality control issues in the study materials.

In one instance I emailed the company because I was seeing contradictory information. The “professional” emailed me back and actually reinforced the wrong answer! Further research on my end confirmed this.

I just wanted to get this “warning” out there to people who are interested in Lambers CPA review materials. Overall it was effective, but there seems to be no quality control department and they push material out the door without confirming its accuracy on all levels. This can make your anxiety and frustration that much greater while preparing for one of the most important exams of your life.
