What do I do to get myself prepared? I feel a little in over my head right now.

My firm has purchased Becker for me… Now I have watched the lectures for the first part of FAR, and my only thought is now what? What does everyone here recommend? Do I just do the HW problems over and over, and make sure I understand the reason behind the answers? Do I make notes as I go along? Do I go back and read the Becker study book over ? Do I need to make flash cards? All of the above? Its 8 weeks till my exam. is that too little of time?

any suggestions would be great. thanks in advance.

What do you mean you watched the lectures for the first part of FAR? The first chapter? If that's the case, I would go back and read the material so you understand it, do all the hw questions while trying to learn from your mistakes, then do the practice sims. After this, you can move on to chapter 2. Most of your content understanding will come from your final review.

Read, watch, re-read, MCQ, MCQ's you missed, SIMs then you move on to the next chapter. I would also do weekly reviews of old material to keep it fresh. If you don't, you will start to forget a lot of the material and you'll find yourself relearning it on your final review. It comes quicker the second time around, but still if you can do a weekly review, you will be better off on your final.

As part of the weekly review, you can do MCQ, re-watch videos, re-read, etc. Whatever helps you keep the material in your head. If you made notes, re-reading the notes is great!

Usually the lectures are broken up into parts. I watch one section of the lecture, stop, do the MCQ, do the MCQ that I missed, and then go on to the next section of the lecture. Once the lecture is done, I go through the book and make notes on things and mark heavily items that I need more practice on, and then work the Sims. Once I am done with an entire lecture, I take a progress test, then I move on to the next topic, rinse and repeat.

Once I am about halfway done with all the material, I move over to the Wiley Test Bank and select questions on topics that I have already researched, or I do an entire practice test to get a feel for what's coming up next and if any of it is intuitive. It gets me familiar because my brain automatically picks out solutions to questions I have seen in the WTB even if I failed them miserably.

yes, i just finished the first chapter (F1). ill try that approach of read, watch, re-read, mcq, mcq missed and sims. then try and recap once a week for over the past sections. just feel like a lot of topics are there, and i of course just want to pass like everyone else on here

I'm in the same stage as you! Gotta pass, no other options. 🙂 I think I'm going to follow BDO-Baby's guidelines too. Thanks!

First thing just watch the lecture and take notes. Go through and make flashcards of KEY pieces of information, this will also help you learn topics from the lectures that may not be completely clear. Then go through the multiple choice at the end of the chapter.

In between you may want to start reviewing flashcards and doing progress tests(this throws in multiple choice from previous chapters). This will help keep information relatively fresh although it is obvious you will forget.

Make it through all of the lectures and multiple choice, then start pounding out 10 chapter progress tests every day(doesn't have to be super long, probably 30 questions of so) and start reviewing chapter by chapter, skim the chapter and re-do all end chapter multiple choice until exam date.
