    Hey all,

So a friend at work who has taken 3 out of 4 parts of the CPA exam gifted me the Yeager BEC and REG for 2012. I plan to purchase the 10 point combo for each part of the exam, does anyone know if this would suffice for the 2013 changes? I also plan to purchase the 2013 Wiley books.

Also I was planning to take FAR as my first exam as its the hardest and am willing to be patient to take it but now that I have these two videos, I am considering taking BEC or REG. What would you do? I really want to take FAR down first because I’d feel if I accomplished and beat FAR I can do the other three.

    FAR: April or May 2014
    AUD:
    REG:
    BEC:
    Scared: 100

FAR first and only attempt: 2014 Wiley textbook, 10 Pt Combo, and WTB

I only get one try to have to give it my all and try to get 75 on my first go around.

REG is way harder than FAR, IMO.

I'm taking the opposite route of what a lot of ppl seem to do (do the hardest section first to get it “out of the way”). I'd rather take a section that seems easier first to see just how hard I'll have to work down the road when I take the insane sections. So it depends on how you prefer to be tested! Do you like getting hard stuff out of the way first when you test or do you save the difficult stuff for last?

    DELAWARE

AUD: 74 (7/2014) 76 (11/2014) PASSED! USED YAEGER AND NINJA
BEC: 73 (9/2014) 76 (2/2014) SO FAR SO GOOD! USED NINJA AND WILEY
FAR: Will take after tax season (can't wait)
REG: Cue overly dramatic impending-doom music (will take in 2014)

I really think it would be great to get the harder parts out of the way first but I honestly don't know if FAR or REG would be harder since I have yet to take them but it seems like those two are the hardest from what I see in these forums.

I just want to make sure that if I should take advantage of having the Yaeger BEC and REG classes (reminder from 2012 Yaeger)

I took REG first because I'm HORRIBLE with taxes. I figured that would be one that would give me problems. Then I took AUD as my “simpler” test. Then I hit FAR. Looking back, FAR was actually tougher for me because of the massive amount of topics covered.

I don't think I would change the order I did them in… but I was surprised how REG came a *smidge* easier to me than FAR did. But I could have just been drained by the time I hit FAR.

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

@neika822 thanks for the feedback…I currently work in Corporate Finance doing SEC reporting so I think FAR might come more natural but am also worried about the volume of information. Maybe Reg should be first…

    So mannnnyyyy decisionnnssss

@Zach Zach, I understand the psychology of getting an easier one first, but I think the 18-month testing restriction throws a wrench into that strategy. The last thing you want is to lose credit for an “easy” section you bad passed because you struggled to pass the hardest section in enough time. If you take the hardest one first, failing would still suck but you wouldn't be “on the clock” with other sections threatening to expire along the way.

For the record I did NOT do it this way. I took the easier two first but wish I hadn't.

    @goingtobeacpa87,

Since someone gave you review materials, why don't you take those first before any new changes. If there are changes that person can get updates and give them to you as well……Hey the review material is expensive, I would take it and start studying. All the parts are hard and you have to study for each one, so take the free and capitalize.

    It begins with a 75

I'm with @tncincy on this one, capitalize on your free review gold before it becomes outdated…especially if you have free REG goodies! Each part is it's own animal and they all suck. I never anticipated having so many issues with audit when I first started taking these exams and I never thought I'd go “one and done” on BEC either considering how lousy I am at cost accounting!

My point is what you may anticipate being “hardest” may be your easiest, so take full advantage of your free materials while they are current!
