If he thought the CPA was bad imagine if he stuck around during busy season!!! People just don't truly understand if they aren't in an industry that has those grueling hours. Good luck on the CPA and soon enough you will find someone who understands what it's like.

I also have to say that our generation is perhaps one of the first in which we can actually say that women are taking on the career roles that only men took on in the past (CPAs, executives, politicians, lawyers) in greater numbers. This of course strains a lot of relationships because of the fact that not every guy is ok with that. ( Sorry if that sounds sexist, I know many woman also are not supportive or just don't care to understand). I think overall it's a really great thing to not have to choose someone just because they provide for you, but rather you can choose the type of person you want to be with and one that supports your aspirations instead of holding you down.
@TheCPAJourney, I think you're totally right about dating someone in your field or someone who very much understands what it is that you do because they have a similar life experience. It'll save you so much frustration. I just moved back to NYC from LA and it drove me crazy that the guys I would meet had no real aspirations aside from modeling. Ambition is a wildly attractive quality.

i am with you, KellyP. My bf broke up with me about a month ago.. I know it sucks, just think, if he cannot be supportive just for a period of time, he will not be supportive for your life. I let go, and you should too! Good luck with your exams!!

@ mgoloubenko Right on! Kiev? They seriously need to have a private messaging feature on this website or some way through which forum members could contact each other privately. It could help bring CPA's together and prevent heartbreaks that the OP had to go through.
