Is three weeks enough time for review/MCQ?

    Hi all,

I’ll be taking my first exam (FAR) on the 27th of April and I’m wondering if exactly 3 weeks or so would be enough time to re-write my notes, review, and crank out a finite number of MCQs? I’m hoping to get through all of the Roger videos AND the book by April 4, which would leave me 23 days until my exam. I’m wondering if this amount of time would be enough given the volume of material in FAR or if I should push back my test date to May 31 and give myself 4 weeks to review?

    Thanks in advance!

P.S. I should add that my workload is hitting critical mass due to busy season, I would only have about 3-4 hours a day to study that includes 45 minutes before work, 45 minutes at lunch, my 60-minute round trip commute and 90 minutes after work.

Its possible. Read Jeffs guide to how to study in 20 days. You going to have to pound Mcqs & Sims & take notes as you go. You wont have time to re write anything

Really? It would take 3+ weeks for just MCQs and sims? I was thinking if I read the book front to back and then hit MCQs that would be enough. This test must be a beast and a half.

FAR is rough. An inch deep and 50 miles wide. But im jaded, took me 6 tries to pass.

If you are fresh out of school, maybe 3 weeks is plenty of time. Difficult is not impossible.

May the odds be in your favor!

Three weeks is more than enough time. I only had a few days to review and didn't get to go over everything. If you find yourself running out of time I suggest you go over the not for profit and governmental accounting. I remember walking out of the exam thinking I took a government accounting exam. I didn't expect that many questions. It was a good thing I studied that last and thought it was pretty easy.

I only reviewed for 2 weeks. I took two days and went through and took notes with the mindset that if I could take those notes with me into the exam, what would I want on them? Wrote all that stuff down and reviewed periodically throughout the two weeks and hammered Ninja MCQ. 3 weeks should be plenty of time.

@TOLKIENBLACQUE it really depends on how you learn. For me I only needed 2 days for final review on FAR and was able to achieve a 94. If you really understand the material the first time through and do well on Multiple choice then it's no need for a extended review period as you are just unnecessarily pounding information you already know.

Again everyone learns differently so where some can pass with no final review, some with minimal, and some who need at least a month to pound out MCQ's.

Thanks for the insight guys as I have been really debating about keeping the 27th as my exam date. I also want to try and squeeze in BEC before Memorial Day weekend, so getting this one out of the way (with a passing score of course) would be ideal.

My other advice would be to keep your weekends free. The weekend is the best time to power through a lot of material. If you get stuck on a subject fall behind a few days you have to be real discipline to make sure you are always on track by the end of your weekend. If you are behind after the weekend it will make it difficult for most to catch up while having a heavy workload.
