Is this study overload?

I am mapping out my study strategy before I begin the process, even though I will most likely not be taking exams until early 2014, I was hoping to get a head start to begin getting the review material. I am getting a new android tablet to be able to study on the go when commuting and when I am not home. Now here is what I was going to purchase for my materials:

-Becker self study (as the main study source)

-NINJA notes and audio to put on the tablet when commuting to work on train/for the car

    -Wiley Test Bank

Now is this an overload of information? Has anyone been able to successfully use all of these and not be overwhelmed? And I heard that it’s also okay to purchase 2013 material even though I will be taking exams in 2014?

I don't know about the 2013 material, but I don't think that's overload. It's good to be exposed to as many different questions as you can. One thing i'll say, I used CPA Excel as my main study text. On all four exams, I didn't really find a question that wasn't covered in the material which was excellent. I also used Wiley to supplement as well which exposed me to slightly different wording. I know people will probably have had good experiences with other study materials, but I can't speak highly enough about CPA Excel. It had videos, books, questions, mentor support that never took more than about 12 hours to answer my question and it was a reasonable price. Unless you're dead set on Becker, I would advise you to at least consider it! Good luck 🙂

Many candidates follow that path (main review course + supplements)

Make sure you get the right review course for you … watch the demos.

Here are some alternatives that are about 1/2 the price.

@caliicpa that's a bit rude !! You should have said for you it took that long but to say “that's a lie lol” is just rude. I have asked 7 questions on there and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them was answered in under 12 hours. So NO it was not a lie it was my experience. Yours may have been different and if it was then that sucks for you. No need to start calling people liars just because you had a different experience.

lol drama ninja. ok let me rephrase that, from my experience the professors take way longer than as advertised. When they advertise the professor mentoring they say they will always respond within 24 hours, which is a lie.

I took Becker live classes which were quite helpful. For FAR, I supplemented with CPA Excel and that was also helpful. Didn't get the mentor option but I found CPA Excel easier to read than Becker.

OTOH, Becker's software was a lot more sophisticated, especially with the SIMs and research tool.
