I’ve taken AUD twice and failed twice with a 65 and a 66. Each time I received my report card back, it said I am stronger in MCQ in 5 of the 6 major sections and comparable in the 6th, and WEAK in the simulations area. Stupidly enough, I became frustrated and took 4 months off, which I completely regret…… I understand the notion that if you do thousands of MCQ you should be able to handle the TBS but it seems like I may be missing something. I’ve changed review courses from Becker to Rogers, I still supplement all my materials with my notes from Becker and the Ninjas but is it time to really take a look at the TBS. As I’m watching the Rogers lectures, everything is coming back to me quickly and I’m scoring high on all the MCQ from the sectionsI’ve already completed. I guess my question her is, should I have given myself so much time to prepare for this exam again??? and most importantly, should I consider spending a significant portion of my study time this time around on the SIMS??

All suggestions are welcome. Really want to pass this section as I knew it would be one of the more difficult ones for me since I’ve never been in audit. Once I pass this section it will really get me going!

    AUD: (65)(66) 77
REG: (66) (48) destroyed me mentally.....
    FAR: (68) (66)(69)(71)
    BEC: (63) 75

    Hey!

REG = my scores were 65, 66, 73, 76!!! I was focusing on getting the MCQ right instead of understanding the problems. I was avoiding topics I hated studying. I was always distracted instead of really sitting down focusing on what was in front ot me.

What helped me was practicing simulations throughout studying and it helped me pin point what sections I was struggling with.

Its really hard to tell exactly what the weak areas are without repetitive practice.

I hope this helps, and I'm sorry if it doesn't I am still trying to figure out my study process right now.

    Reg - 65, 66, 73, 76
    FAR - 11/25/14 ???

Honestly I agree with you. I think it is very important to practice simulations especially if you are consistently scoring low on them. They are 40% of your score after all.

I found that practicing the SIMs brought a lot of the material together before the exam. It's one thing to memorize a bunch of facts and figures, and another thing to understand the material you are memorizing. I can't say whether they helped me with the SIM portion of the actual exam, but working them helped with the MCQ portion. I suppose it could translate though….

The last week or so before my exams I focused heavily on sims (except for BEC). I did all the sims in my review materials at least twice (really found Ninja sims helpful) even if I was just reading through the answers on some of them. It was best for me to actually re-do the sims for the tougher material though. I feel like practicing the sims made me aware of how the material would be presented on the exam and introduced me to some material not covered as heavily in the review MCQ that I actually saw on my exams.

i focused mainly on mcq and the study text. i did only a couple sims to be familiar with the format and research tab. as long as you know the concepts, i dont think practicing sims is gonna help much
