I’ve gone a little crazy with my BEC study techniques after I passed FAR and realized I’m half way home. Over the past 6 or 7 weeks I have done all of Becker MCQ twice (1200 MCQ *2=2400) all of Wiley MCQ twice (600 *2=1200). I’ve done a few progress tests in Becker, and a few 72 MCQ quizzes in Wiley, plus the Becker simulated exam. All of that equals about 5548765465846354654354 MCQ. I feel like I’ve done all the questions so many times that I’m way too familiar with them :/ … It just dawned on me when I started doing the new AICPA released questions for BEC. I’m awesome with calculations and variances, but everything else… I’m getting wrong 🙁 Is there such thing as TOO many MCQ?!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

    @Peanut

I think you've done more than enough!

Just try to stay focused on the exam. With this amount of practice, you should score high 🙂

@Givemesleep- I didn't plan on doing such a small amount of questions, but I had to cut my study period for BEC short because I wanted to retake REG again before the New Year's. But I still failed on the retake, so that certainly didn't work out as planned. But basically, I only studied 7 weeks for BEC and was able to pass. It's not that difficult of a section. It's certainly not easy, but it's not nearly as hard as FAR and REG.

Every part is so different. It depends on the level of practice you need with particular concepts. I only studied the minimum with AUD and FAR and passed. Thought this was adequate for REG and found out the area was so different and my challenge. Try to do a progress test – with Wiley the overall practice exam or Becker progress to see your areas of weakness and then go at it.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
BEC - Missed by 3 points Retake TBD

@Peanut, don't lose heart because of the final exams. I'm pretty sure my first round through the Becker BEC Final Exams were BOTH ungodly (#2 moreso than #1, but neither was a score to write home about, I assure you). Personally I think the Wiley test bank and cpareviewforfree got me more prepared for BEC than Becker did, which still isn't saying a lot because I did not see any possible way I could have passed when I walked out of there (as evidenced by my bee-line from Prometric straight to the nearest package store).

Good luck! Your practice WILL pay off.

    FAR 07/27/11 - 87
    AUD 10/01/11 - 85
    BEC 11/15/11 - 87
    REG 01/03/12 - 92

    @Peanut,

You know how I feel about the Becker exams—-good practice, but IMO can kill the confidence. They should be taken with a grain of salt…….. Don't lose sight of the big picture–you have prepared yourself well–now go and pass that exam. Good luck today!!!!! I am rooting for you!!

The night before/morning of my test the only focus is multiple choice questions. If I keep getting the same types of questions wrong (IE ABC costing question,) I re-read the 3-4 pages on that topic.

    Good luck tomorrow!

    REG 80 2/7/11
    FAR 91 10/8/11
    AUD 97 11/22/11
    BEC 96 2/4/12

    CPA 3/15/13

yes. you've done too many if you get higher than a 75 on the test.

    REG - 81
    BEC - 88
    AUD - 85
    FAR - 81

ever felt burnt out by the time you got to the exam?

I experienced this once during college.. I was really trying to push for that A in biz calculus. Did a all nighter and ended up being half asleep during the 3 hour final. I passed with an A but I was wondering if I could have done something different to avoid the burnt feeling but still maintain the knowledge.

@valueofnothing, when I took the Becker live classes the teacher used to say, if you got over a 75 it means you over studied.. lol

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

I'd rather over study than under study.

Getting exactly 75 is extremely hard since we have no idea how the exam is scaled nor are we aware of what crazy questions will come our way on the exam. There's no such thing as overstudying when it comes to the CPA exam.

And personally, I think reading your review books, taking notes and reading over your notes should also be done in addition to doing MCQs. Reading your books and notes will help the concepts sink in better and doing practice MCQs will help expose yourself to different ways of how they can ask questions on these topics.

@Peanut- Looks like your test is tomorrow… GOOD LUCK!!! It seems like everyone has already given you some pretty great advice. I did terrible on the HW and some progress tests on FAR, but still passed. I just kept a positive attitude and talked myself up.

YOU KNOW THIS!!! Just keep repeating and you'll be fine!

    B- Passed (2nd Try)
    A- Passed (2nd Try)
    R- Passed (2nd Try)
    F- Passed (3rd Try)

    Never give up!

Thanks everyone! It didn't go too hot :/ … I felt pretty good during the first testlet, but the second testlet I had to mark, literally half 🙁 The third testlet was kind of hard too.. I felt like I couldn't have studied any more though–between two test banks. I don't think either test bank could have really prepared me for everything I saw on the exam… I'm nervous because I thought the 2nd & 3rd testlets were hard during AUD-but it was that I just didn't know the material and bombedddd. Hope it's not the same for BEC, but I can't help but be negative. This is the 8th exam I have taken over all…. I should have been done a long time ago

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58
