It seems that after 3 hrs (i take break after every hour for about 10-15 mins) my brain just goes into i am tired leave me alone mode. I can contine studying i notice that i am wasting my time and i am not absorbing any information

I can go outside take an hour break and come back in feeling refreshed but next thing i know i will be tired after 20-30 mins this time.

I am just wondering if this is normal because i see people on here who study 7-8 hrs?

I'd say that's very normal. I also try to do about 3-4 hrs a night, taking a quick break about once an hour (am currently on a break about to start hour #4 tonight). Working full time and having 3 kids all age 5 or younger makes it really hard for me to always find the time, but I just try my best to tough it out till 12-1 in the morning studying…and then waking up by 4:30-5 to get ready for work. I'll be so glad when this is all over!!

I'm at about 2.5-3 hours a night. The amount of MCQs varies depending on what I hope to accomplish that evening (first blind pass through or stopping and trying to understand the questions and pulling the book out if necessary).

Using Ninja MCQ, NINJA Notes, Audio, Flashcards and BLITZ, and 2014 Wiley Text

    AUD - (68)

    Keep Calm and RTMFQ

3 hours a day is impressive if you are working full time. Heck, I would be lucky to get 3 hours in on a weekday.

I do about 2.5-3 hours every weeknight and work full time. I agree that anything more is futile for me at that point. Even on weekends, same thing.

Quality over quantity! Don't worry about the amount of hours you study for. As long as you understand everything, you will be good to go.

I was fortunate enough to not have to work while I was studying for FAR. At that time, I was studying about 7-8 hours a day.

I'm working full-time now, and 2-3 hours is the best I can do on weekdays. I'm useless if I don't get enough sleep.

Have you thought about getting tested for ADD? I have a niece who can only focus on her collegiate studies for short periods of time, and when she reads she has a hard time retaining or comprehending anything unless she reads it over and over and over.

She was prescribed some sort of medicine (probably Adderall or Vyvanse) which improved her focus significantly, and now her grades have improved.

Just a thought. I know some folks frown upon such prescription drugs to give students that edge, but she legitimately had a problem and it's worked wonders for her.
