AnonymousInactiveI recently put my notice in and I’m planning on doing 80-100 questions a day so I can slay this beast by christmas. I already passed reg….is 80-100mc’s a day a super turbo boost amount of material to cover assuming it’s WTB and CPAEXCEL that I’m using in conjunction, or is it a little baby dolphin fin amount of work to do? Somedays I will take a break and watch the videos…maybe, but for REG it was just doing mc and using Jeff’s notes which helped me out the most..

hailstate13CPAMembermaybe “easily” was not the best word choice in my initial response, but my study partner and I did at least 500 mcq a day for at least 3 days leading up to the exams. it was not that hard to accomplish once we got started.

KenadaMember600 a day…. wow that's stamina – I would be very cross eyed.
When I start doing the actual learning of the material my MCq's range from 60 to 100 – it depends on the chapter and type of questions.
Some you can do fast and some you need to sit and think and research on etc.
Once at the review stage that is when I would do 100 to 150 a night during working days and then aim for 300 plus a day on the weekends. This varies depending on the exam you are taking BEC and AUD I could so much more than what I have mentioned about. REG It was just about what I said about.. FAR i think will be a different story and be on he lower end since I feel I will be spending a lot of time working on the problems and researching when i get them wrong.

hailstate13CPAMemberWe must have learned something. My partner has been licensed for 6 months and I'm currently waiting on mine. I didn't write a book for every wrong question and I didn't make take any notes for correct questions. The system worked for us so if you'd like to keep doing the 80 or so mcqs that's your choice, but I just wanted to point out what worked for me.

TncincyParticipantStand down hailstate13cpa…….I don't think anyone is against the large amount of mcq's or implying that you didn't learn anything. I'm trying to figure out, if incorporated, how to incorporate without burnout or frustration. Many of us yet testing is just trying to find a way to pass. It's still a lot for FAR. Congrats to you and your partner on exam success.
No worries…..we're open for suggestion……..

GroudParticipantI like to go through each section's lecture, then do the MCQs starting with the section I am least comfortable with. At first, since Im not going to get a lot of the questions right, I may get to 50 total MCQs in a day (2 hours maybe), but once I start getting the hang of the topic, I can fly through them at like 100-150 per day (3 hours) and get most right.
My strategy for these tests is to give myself 50 days of studying for each, at 2 hours of quality study time per day, maybe an extra couple hours per day in the week leading up to the test, so that will be no less than 100 quality hours of study for each, and probably more like 110 hours.
Ill admit I hated MCQs when I first started studying because I would be getting like 60% wrong, but once I got in a rhythm and started getting 80-90% correct they became a little more interesting/fun. In fact over the last 24 hours I have done about 130 MCQs for AUD2 (becker, “Other Reports”) and at the start of them I would get like 7 out of 10 wrong, but the last 100 or so I swear I got only like 4 wrong. I get pretty juiced when I go on a run of like 40 straight answered correctly.

kmm1216Member@everyone who asked: I can use my experience last month before I took REG as an example. I did my final review in a three day span, so I broke down the material into thirds. As far as reading goes, I was able to read the entire Roger REG textbook in about nine hours, so that equated to about three hours per day of reading.
When I did the ~600 MCQ's a day, most of them came from the Wiley test bank. I know that was 1,000+ MCQ's alone, and then I also did others elsewhere as well. I'm pretty fast at answering questions in general (finished FAR with a bit over an hour and a half to go lol), and I answer them even faster when I'm doing them while studying. I would literally just go topic by topic (ie: contract law has 100 questions, do all 100 of those in one sitting, move onto next topic, etc.) and at least in the wiley test bank, I would “read” the explanation for why I got it right or wrong. By read, I generally skimmed it quickly, especially if I knew the topic really well. Even when I got questions wrong, I only took down notes if it was something I really, really didn't know. There were definitely some questions I got wrong due to laziness or lack of focus, and I probably had the knowledge to get it right, so there wasn't a point to jot it down. I also decided not to do any TBS's in this period, so that saved time for me.
Like I said, I did this in a three day span, the weekend leading up to my exam. The first two days were the weekend (Saturday & Sunday), followed by a Monday in which I just cut class (I'm a lazy graduate student :p) so I had the full days to study. Yeah, when you're going to do something like 600 MCQ's in a day, it's kind of a whole day thing. For me, it was generally from when I woke up to when I went to sleep, with some small-ish breaks between every other topic or so.

GutiParticipantI think you exaggerated a little with the 600 mc questions per day mr. Speedy Gonzalez. I don't remember where I read here that someone did tax returns on a hospital bed and work 21 hr days for 1 month straight. If all these stories are true, please let us know what you eat.
