I have 6 actg credit hours left to get to my 150. I am a finance major and am currently getting my actg credits at my community college. I took intermediate couple yrs ago before I switched to finance so I dont remember much. My question is should I look to take intermediate I again and intermediate II in order to pass FAR or is Yaeger review for FAR a good enough teaching course to allow me to learn and understand the concepts?

if you have to take 6 hours already, for sure go to intermediate 1&2

for sure you will get benefit from them in your Far studing

I would certainly check with your state licensing board to ensure that repeating Intermediate Accounting would count as additional credits; I get the impression from your post that you took both 1 and 2 and received credit for both, and are now thinking of taking them again.

With that said, my impression of FAR was that the bulk of material comes from what would be traditionally covered in Intermediate 1 and 2, but Yaeger covers all of that and more (granted in not as much depth, but it is more than sufficient to pass the exam). From my personal experience, I would approximate that 15% of my FAR exam was from material typically covered in Principles 1 and 2, 40% was from Intermediate 1 and 2, 25% was from Advanced, and then 20% from your typical Gov't/Non-Profit course. I'm sure it varies based on individual and the progression of the test as well (i.e. if the testlets go from medium to difficult to difficult or what), but I think that's a pretty fair estimate.

I wouldn't go back and take courses unless there is a shortage of hours, but if you are short hours you can't take the same class twice unless you dropped those classes or did not complete them. The advantage of the review course is that it should cover what you need to pass the test….that's what is really important. Yes, meet the educational requirements but don't spend extra money if you don't have to….trust the review course (Yaeger is excellent, my opinion of course).

    It begins with a 75

I would just do the review course- I know that my intermediate classes in college were two semesters…so you could waste 9 months on one section or 6 weeks using a review course and then another 6-12 weeks doing an online class to get your extra credits
