Hi guys, I just found out today that I failed BEC with a 66. I planned on taking REG in October and just started with the materials about a week ago, so I haven’t gone very far on REG. I am thinking of retake BEC then take the REG after that because I heard BEC exam will be changing started October 2020. Do you think this is a good idea or I should just keep going on with REG? Has anyone of you retake BEC? and how long did it take you to review?

I'm probably not the right person to give advice because I can't pass AUD if my life depended on it. But for BEC IT was crucial to review a set of questions every day. Just IT. Other than that go through the items that piss you off, the stuff you don't like. I suggest retaking BEC since you just started REG, a review can be anywhere from 3 to 5 weeks at least for me. Do you work or full time student?

@minhtrang Do a retake first but prepare fully don’t just review. Then get REG done.

@moscheck for AUD you have to know where in the process you are to correctly answer the questions. For sims do the AICPA practice exam. And I always suggest reviewing the standards. Everything in AUD is based on the standards.

Don’t let these scores get you done. Let them go and keep moving forward. Positive self talk matters. Go get it done!

@monikernc: Thank you for your advice! I had a little problem. I just tried to locate a BEC exam in my state and there are no available seats left for September. Do you know if BEC will be changing in October 2020? Thanks in advance
@moscheck: it's extremely hard when you are working full time. So don't lose hope, we are in this together. Let's free our head for one day or so then get back to study

Depending on the testing centers, they may add more seats/availability periodically, so don't give up just yet. For me, a final review before taking the exam was around 2 weeks, with practice exams every few days. In between I'd hit topics I struggled on, and if you have time, I recommend going back and completing the module (lecture, review questions, etc.) in full. If there are a lot of topics you're shaky on, build in more time for review (I encountered this with REG the most). Always better to be over-prepared than under-prepared.

@monikernc – if I'm reading those changes correctly, it ALMOST reads like they are removing some of the areas like AMT in REG and adding some data analytics as a sim in BEC. Am I reading that correctly?? Isn't that making the test easier?

I did not read the entire article but removing AMT does not surprise me since most people are not subject to it after TCJA. At least till 2025. I would never accuse them of making the exam easier. The way they are incorporating analytics into AUD with excel sounds like an even more harrowing exam experience.
I was your age when I took exams so get a move on. We are not getting any younger.

@Heihei I suggest you book the earliest date you can find then keep looking until a cancellation comes up and then change your date. Do it before any fee is incurred.

@monikernc: I appreciate your suggestion. You're right, I just saw a couple of available seats in September in my area. Waiting for my new NTS then I will book them.
