If you fail a part do you start re-studying that part right away? - Page 2

I posted a similar thread after leaving my REG exam. Now that the scores release date is here I figured I’d prepare myself just in case.

Currently I am 2 chapters deep (45 hours) in BEC. I took REG July 8th so only 4 weeks ago.

If I do not pass REG on the first shot, should I jump back in while it is somewhat fresh or continue BEC and hit REG after BEC.

    @Gian

I am in PA. Scores came out here before I even read a post on this thread about anyone getting them.

I took REG in late May right at the end of the Q2 window. I walked out and almost cried in the car, knowing that I didn't pass. With that in mind, I continued studying REG so that I could take it again at the beginning of the Q3 window (in July). I took it and am waiting for my score. While I'm not confident that I passed, at least I am on the fence this time and not totally hopeless. But since I can't retake in the Q3 window even if I do fail and I don't want to waste time, I moved on to studying for FAR. I plan to take FAR at the beginning of the Q4 window and, if I don't pass REG (from Q3), I will have time at the end of Q4 to take it.While I would like to continue studying and testing one section at a time, it just isn't an efficient use of study and testing time or you will be testing forever. There are lots of people on here who take sections multiple times and it's hard to put studying and prep on hold until you get your test score. My approach is to get the hardest out of the way, which seems to be REG and FAR. So I am going back and forth between the two until they are both passed.

    REG (72), 77 July '14
    FAR (74), 79 Jan '15
    BEC (74), 85 August '15
    AUD 80 July '15

Material: Roger full review, Wiley test bank all four topics
Ninja MCQ: AUD and BEC retake

I used to be a “take all four first” kinda guy but to me it makes more sense to do a quick retake while it's fresh but to combine with the one you were going to take in that window anyway, so that way you can keep on track. The most disheartening possibility to me is to have a part passed and let it expire. I'm not sure I would have the strength to keep going (especially since my first exam was FAR). Kudos to those that do by the way.

So for example, I've got AUD in Oct, if I fail REG I'm moving AUD back to late Nov and doing a REG retake in early OCT. That way I can take advantage of my existing REG knowledge and still stay on track. In my mind that's the best way to go.

If I took a section at the beginning of a window and didn't pass, I would move on to something else for the end of the window. If I took a section at the end of a window, I'd continue on with that section if I didn't pass and take it again at the beginning of the next window.

I'd try to get 2 sections in per window at least.

    FAR: 4/19/2014 - 85!
    AUD: 5/27/2014 - 90!
    REG: 7/18/2014 - 81!
    BEC: 8/13/2014 - 84!

    4 up, 4 down, in 4 months.

Lynch: I actually agree with the two sections per window if you can take full advantage of the off month. 13 weeks in a quarter = 6 weeks each + 1 week off. I imagine though that kind of schedule any more than two consecutive quarters could get really exhausting and lead to burnout rather quick. I did it in Q2 and only didn't in Q3 because I was traveling in June. I've got two exams left so for me it's both exams in the same window until I pass them or my first expires. Hoping it won't come to that 🙂
