If it wasn’t for the CPA, I would be either watching a movie, reading a good book, or spending some quality time with my 4 year old. What would you be doing right now if you weren’t studying for the CPA?

It's surprising how quickly I became bored with everything after finally passing lol. But I'm sure when the new job starts Monday I'll once again be longing for these simple pleasures.

Spend quality time with my wife and 2 babies….without the test hanging over my head, best feeling ever. As soon as I got my last score for REG in June within a few days I booked a mini-vacation per week for the following 3/4 weeks (made long weekends out of it and it was the Summer which is slower anyway). Also got to spend time friends I haven't seen since before studying for the exam. Just the freedom to make plans, period, without thinking about when I'm taking the exam, the window, will we go away during my review etc.

@ Calvinus – It's funny, I guess it's human nature that we adapt and ‘normalize' to our current situations relatively quickly. While I was studying being finished seemed like it would be the touch of an angel, but the beauty is in the freedom. I remind myself that I don't have to wake up 3+ hours earlier to study accounting every day, don't have to keep reviewing material and making sure I know what I'm studying wherever I go etc., not having to feel guilty for not studying or not being able to spend time with my family because I'm studying. I can wake up, read the paper with my coffee instead of logging in online for lectures or MCQs. I know a lot of people go after other certs/licenses post-CPA, right now I'm good.

Best of luck to you all, it's all in persistence and finding the best method for you, you will all succeed

Family, Friends, Jiu-Jitsu, Guitar. The best part about studying is the growth and maturity. I hope to take these soft skills with me. Before I committed, I was unfocused and not dedicated. Now, I try to treat my decisions with utmost care in regards to my time and attention. It's amazing how much a little dedication goes a long way. I have a tremendous amount of confidence in my ability to succeed and persevere. I credit a large portion of that to the CPA exam. It sounds so corny but it's true – hard work pays off.

Climbing up a rock face somewhere in Clear Creek Canyon… (sadness). It's only about 3 miles from my house, yet here, I sit.
